Totally stupid form of punishment. Her life is gone and along with it someones child and the most important person in the world to someone.
And why? So someone could get fricked up and somehow think its a good idea operate a projectile under less than optimal conditions.
This person surely didn't intentionally kill this lady.
But unless one's been living under a rock for one's entire life, it's no secret that impaired driving can kill.

Apparently this driver chose not to consider that and operated his Beemer until crashing into the poor victim.

Perhaps something more severe such as 12 years (w/o parole) in the can will help drive this message home.

Apparently there are some that are either to fricking stupid to get the message or they simply don't care.

I thought this thread was going to be about someone getting the chair for drunk driving.

He should be in jail for the rest of his life. He committed murder. Drunk driving sentences are way too lax in this country.

why is that ridiculous? Would you feel so lenient if numbnuts in the beemer killed your wife or mother?

The victim's parents were fine with the sentence. This is a huge factor in the end result.

If the parents of the deceased are ok with it, you should be to

In short, mind your business

So if you're operating a boat and you take me out fishing and we get caught in a storm and the boat flips and I drown, should you spend 12 years behind bars?

That boat would be considered a projectile operating in less than optimal conditions

So now we let the families of victims do the sentencing?

If the family is agreeable to the sentence, then it's fine by me. Who cares what you guys think?

I see what your issue is, because he has a bimmer he must be an entitled rich a-hole. No doubt he made a mistake and he needs to pay for it but come the frick on, life in prison is absolutely ridiculous. You don't even get life for murdering someone.

yes my issue is that he has a bmw, if he killed her while driving a kia sephia i would not have cared. Emily doesn't get to live her life bc of his mistake so why should he get to live his own life freely?

There was one sentence handed down in MS back in the 90s related to a death caused by dui where a teenage drunk dude rear-ended a car, killing a kid in the car that he hit. He served a few years in prison, had to speak to high schools for a few more, but he also had to send the mother/family of the victim a weekly check of $1 for ten years, or else serve the whole sentence. The reason line of the check had to say "For the death of your daughter."

Eta: Thought it was for the rest of his life, but was only ten years.
