I saw a road rage traffic incident on the way to work...

I was driving to work today, and there is a stretch of road that is two lanes and it narrows to one lane as the right hand lane merges into the left lane. Everyone was edging over into the left lane, and then a guy (I'll call him Bob) from waaay back, decides to jump into the right lane and pass 10 cars before jumping back into the left lane.
Except, a guy (we'll call him John) saw Bob coming and pulled halfway into the right lane and blocked him, right where the lanes merged - It looked like Bob was going to pass a few more cars on the shoulder. So Bob had no choice, but to pull in behind John and starts honking his horn at him and flipping him the bird. At the traffic light a couple of blocks down the road, Bob got out of his car and went up to the John's window and started yelling at him in his car. John didn't even roll down his window, and never reacted and Bob eventually went back to his car.
This happened about 3 cars in front of me. Was John right to do what he did? Would you have done the same thing? I think those of us in line were silently cheering John on, as Bob was being an arse about it.

i thought it was worded well. descriptive enough to paint a picture of atmosphere and events. even has some character development.

Bob should get curb stomped for being, "That Guy".
that dildo knows that lane ends, but he's going to force everyone else to check up, because he's going to get in front, regardless of what the law or how traffic dictates.

Traffic actually moves faster if you fully use the two lanes up to the merge point and then take turns.

I was John in a very similar incident.
They had W. Metairie down to a lane before David, and I took both lanes to stop the cars from cutting the line to the left and then cutting back in. I didn't even start blocking until two light cycles passed and I barely moved because of all the "Bob's".
I then had two different people call my company and make totally false claims about my driving. (exactly two small cars got by me) then one guy passed me on the canal bank and threw a drink at my car.
Me and my helper just laughed. By this point more people joined team John and I was ready to get back in line.
I do the same thing when interstate merges end and I see people try and drive the shoulder. I squeeze the shoulder. Those assholes DO NOT realize they are causing the very traffic the are trying to flee by their driving.

I wouldn't have done it cause I don't want to get shot in the face by some loony but yeah people like Bob are the worst and endanger everyone's lives with their recklessness.

YES.
I think every single driver should have to go to the DMV to renew their license and be taught the Zipper Merge and the left lane for passing only rule.
You teach just those two things to everyone and traffic will improve.
