Why do some insist Jones be fired right now?

He will be let go at the end of the season. Why are some so impatient and can't wait until season's end? It's not like we will have a stunning turnaround to the season and end up in the tournament if we fire him now.
Some of you seem like over-emotional immature children that have absolutely no patience.
Grow up. Jones will be gone soon enough.

They are reactionists.

Joe Alleva said he fired Miles because of the it was better for the players. I don't really see how this situation is much different. The locker room for this team has to be terrible.

Actually, I felt this way about Miles and I feel the same way about Jones. once you get rid of the lynch mob mentality, I don't really see a valid reason to fire a coach mid-season.

Because some of us actually watch basketball. This is the most embarrassingly uncoached team I have ever seen.

Id say give him 1 more year, hoping Blakely (spelled it this way just for you know who) comes back to get a higher draft grade. The team is just not good. And it kinda started last year with Simmons. And continued to this year..So 1 year to recover and the program should see improvement.

It's possible a new coach could at least give the team a spark and make the games fun again. Everyone knows Jones is gone including himself. Why put it off when you know it's coming

In this season which has been the mother of all clusterfricks, how fricked up is it that 2nd closest game, margin of defeat wise, during the losing streak was to Kentucky?

At this point it doesn't matter. He should have been fired 8 games ago, though .

Scratch that, he should have been fired at the end of last season.

It was after the fourth game of the season, or 1/4 of the way through. By comparison, 1/4 of the way through the basketball season, they were 5-2. So Alleva would have had to fired Jones back on Nov. 29th for it to be similar timing-wise.

Also, the football team had the players to turn the season around, the basketball team, unfortunately, does not.

Lets see:

We also stand to lose 800K firing him now instead of at the end of the season.

800K we can use to get a better supporting staff

It's just impatience by fans that really don't consider anything outside of instant gratification.

But, like he said, if a top-5 coach came in tomorrow...what's different for the last 4 games?

If they'd watch then they know Coach K couldn't really help these guys right now.

First off we don't know that he'll be fired. Secondly unlike football in college basketball your post season hopes are alive until the end of the conf tourney. Now it's against the odds but less talented teams have won conf tourneyments before. Now if Randy could get the max out of this team and at least make a run then we'd have momentum going into next season. We'd have a refreshed confidence and we'd be able to keep guys who are probly going to transfer nomatter who the coach is. It would also show that Jones was the problem and recruits would be able to see that our program does have appeal. There's also the press and writers to think about. Pre season of next year they would know that this team without Jones is actually a threat giving us favor when the bubble starts to form. Our pre season ranking for both 2014 and 15 were both seriously damaged because of jones and the writers who form these polls didn't mince words about it. Keeping Jones as long as we have has all kinds of adverse effects on this program.
