Fake news?! It's an imminent catastrophe! The top 30 feet of the dam is likely to fail. The town of Oroville and surrounding areas are in dire straights

Nah, they do frequent drills and have never had water reach the emergency spillway in the 40+ years since it's been built.

Additionally it's only been about 2 hours since initial notice, so getting the word out and fast would have been tough.

The first evacuation warning was also stating it could fail within the hour, need to get people going fast.

Like earlier post stated though, it's not an issue any longer as they've significantly decreased water levels rapidly by opening the main release to 100,000 cubic ft per second
