Danny McCray may have been the most underrated. I know he bounced between safety and linebacker, but he lasted 5 years in the NFL, and most LSU fans don't even remember him.

Danny McCray was a safety not a LB his entire time at LSU so he doesnt even qualify for this thread. He was also a liability in coverage at LSU in Pelini's defense and never should have been a NB. Jacob Tamme abused him. Granted he did get better and has been successful in the NFL

I don't remember McCray playing linebacker. I remember a lot of fans saying he should play linebacker because he couldn't cover. Did they finally move him to linebacker?

Ryan Baker was a much better player than Highsmith, IMO and equally forgotten.

I don't think he's in the underrated convo. I mean he was 1st team AA...

Darry Beckwith and Kelvin Sheppard. Both were really good at LSU. Plus kelvin sheppard always made Ryan Perriloux look really good on special teams.

I think he really is. Him or Perry Riley. Wasn't Highsmith an All American?

The fact that Kelvin Shepherd has yet to be mentioned in this thread proves he's one of the more underrated

If the thread is about underrated LBs and everyone thinks Shepherd was great, of course he wouldn't be mentioned in a thread about underrated LBs...

Every time I read these threads on very good LSU linebackers the name I never see brought up much is Kevin Minter!

Yeah Highsmith was a 1st team AA his senior year. He went undrafted and lasted 2 years in the NFL. If anything he was overrated in college, certainly not underrated.

Underrated is a guy like Perry Riley who never even was named all SEC and has had himself a very nice professional career

Ali Highsmith & Brady James would be on my all-time team with Kevin Minter rotating in with Arden Key outside depending on the formation.

Maybe he is thinking of Harry Coleman? They moved him from safety to linebacker I believe

Thunder n lightning
I agree 1. B. James and a. highsmith
2 k. minter and k. Alexander
Outside 1. S. Montgomery and a. key
2. J. green and b. Mingo.

Most underrated I do not no I loved every single one of the guys mentioned above. I don't think I could rank them after the guys I just mentioned. Lol I always thought the guys from lsu should start over everyone else n the league lol

McCray did not play well against Florida in 2008. It was tough to watch.
