Arsenic and Old Lace
It's a 1944 comedy that still holds up.
Charge!

Samuel Goldwyn was inspired to produce a film about veterans after reading an August 7, 1944, article in Time about the difficulties experienced by men returning to civilian life.

I won't lie, I don't love old movies. The Hustler is about as far back as I'll go.
The old Clash of the Titans was good. Sinbad.

I saw this not long ago and man, what a dreary movie. Good acting and all, just...ugh.

Sound of Music
I typically can't stand musicals. But I recently watched "Fiddler on the Roof", "West Side Story" and "Sound of Music" with my 12 yr old daughter -- she loved them. Forgot how good of movies they are.
Will wait a bit longer to watch Grease with her.
ETA: Does Mel Brook's "history of the world" count as a classic?

Dr. Zhivago. It doesnt get mentioned with its contemporaries as much as it should. Movie has a bit of everything plus a prime Julie Christie.
