Hi Everyone,
Sorry I have not been giving any updates but I didn't want to bore everyone with the mundane daily cancer routine.
Our trip to Alaska/Chena Hot Springs was fantastic! Funny thing is I was going mainly for the Northern Lights (which were awesome) but the hot springs were very high on our awesome list. Had a great trip.
On the cancer status I finished up chemo at the middle of March. I thought surgery was the next step but my doctors decided I should get radiation as it will soften up the tumor for surgery and hopefully shrink it more. So, I started radiation at the beginning of April. 5 days a week for 5 weeks. Also, have to take oral chemo the 25 days of radiation. I won't deny it, this has been the hardest part of my treatments so far but only 7 more days and I am done! Then another CAT scan, 6 to 8 weeks recovery and if all is o.k. surgery in June!
The main worry we have is the tumor was wrapped around two arteries. My surgeon says it appears to have shrunk and is now abutting the two arteries. However, he won't be sure until the surgery. I would appreciate everyone's prayers that is has receded so the surgery can be successful.
Thanks for all of the kind thoughts and prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are that you will watch a great football, basketball and baseball season healthy and full of strength. Most importantly full of strength.

very glad to hear that your trip to Alaska was a memorable one...I need to do that myself one of these days.
also glad to hear that your treatments are progressing in a positive direction...hang in there.
Thanks for the update. Come back and let us know your progress periodically...or just stay and post like the regulars!

I'm happy you experienced the Nothern Lights. I saw them a couple of time on my trip. There was never a spectacular display of color, but even kind of washed out, they have a very ethereal and otherworldly aspect to them. I found them very calming, almost hypnotic. I didn't make it to Chena Hot Springs, but have only heard good things. I'm glad it lived up to your expectations.
I'm sorry to hear that radiation has been a grind for you, but you're almost finished. After next week, you can enjoy the rest of the Spring. Please take care and know that you have many people praying for you and pulling for you. Can't wait to read your June update after your successful surgery. Be well!

Thank you for sharing this. I'm looking forward to another update on your bucket list adventures and your inspirational battle.
Your radiologist said you could beat this and he/she knows that it's possible. Physicians try their best to be realistic, but people with cancer don't have definite expiration dates. Keep fighting!
