I redid my A-Bolt a few weeks ago after it had developed rust also.

I used duracoat aerosol, which has a "can within a can" design so you can release the hardener into the paint, shake up and spray on as if it were krylon.

here is the result

Did you completely disassemble it?

Thanks for advice guys, looking into a few shops now. If it lasts like it is supposed to, should be well worth the money.

First I've heard of that, but wanted to vouch for Duracoat. I have both of my XDs duracoated, and TruGlo TFO's installed at the same time. There was a guy that posted on an XD forum years ago that was local to me, so I dropped the slide off to him, and about 10 days later it showed up in the mail finished. This was before my daughter was born, so 9+ years ago, and both still look as good as when I got them back. And they get used, time in a holster, etc. Great product.
