Toyota or Ford

Toyota Tundra TRD Pro or Ford F-150 Lariat FX4
Both are crew cab, Yota has the 5.7 V8, can get the Ford in either 5.0L V8 or 3.5 ecoboost.
I've never owned a truck before, for 10 years I've been driving 4runners, I've had 3 in that time, not bc anything has gone wrong with them but just upgraded up the chain to the Limited.
What's the OB think between my 2 options?

Well I may be biased but I'd suggest the Ford. I've always had fords never let me down. Not sure how much you will be driving but the Ford will get much better mileage especially by getting one of their ecoboost engines. Only good thing about Toyota is they're known for producing high mileage vehicles but it all comes down to which deals/ pricing you prefer, how long are you going to keep it and how much will you drive it.

How long will you keep it? How important is fuel efficiency?

Get the Tundra if plan to continue trading every 3ish years. Tundra really holds it's value and I'm a F150 guy.

Drive them both and see which you prefer.
The Tundra will probably cost more, but has a slightly better resale value.
Either Ford engine will get better gas mileage that the Tundra. Shitty gas mileage is the biggest complaint against the Tundra.
I drove both trucks back in '14 when I was buying a new one and I couldn't justify paying $10 grand more for the Tundra than the F-150 I bought. (XLT, 4x4, leather, Ecoboost, 20" wheels, HID headlights)

Toyota. If you can afford the truck, the gas is a non issue in my book

Get the Yota. I'm on my third Tundra and I have never had an issue. Mileage isn't great but the quality will offset it.

If you need to tow or haul anything heavy in the bed like a four wheeler, do not get the TRD Pro it has a softer suspension IIRC. Look at another trim for the Tundra and shop them on bang for the buck, they're both good and should last forever. I'd guess the better deals will be on the Fords though.

Love my 1794 tundra / I was sold when my buddy flipped 300,000 without a single issue in his 08 tundra.

Isn't there a substantial price difference between compatible model Ford vs yota?
At minimum I know you can get hellacious rebates on domestics, hardly anything in Toyota's
Eta- just looking at cars.com, yota is about 8k more.

I own a ford. Buy a Tundra.
The lariat is a great truck for 100,000 miles. Then it turns to shite.

Yota.
Not sure I would get the Pro, seems gimmicky.

If you go Ford, get the V8. A turbo V6 is the most ridicules fade I have seen.

You think both trucks are the same quality, but one of them can sell for 8-10k less in rebates and still make a profit?

Toyota does less volume, hence the reason for no rebates. It is a supply vs demand thing.

Higher demand leads to lower prices? Somebody needs to tell the crawfish wholesalers

They are all great trucks, I personally believe it's the best segment in the auto insdusty because of competition. You need to drive them all and see what best suits your style and usage. Not a big fan of the 3.5.

I just bout a TSS tundra in May.
So far, so good. Gas mileage sucks but the truck has been great thus far.
I plan on putting 250k miles on it so I got the tundra.
I replied to this thread to have the opportunity to use the word 'thus' in a sentence.

I'd say the engines are similarly reliable. Where Toyota shines in in the components and finish over time. I have an 06 Tundra with 130,000 miles on it and every single ting in the truck works exactly as well as the day I bought it. I had two Ford products prior and had tons of electrical issues and little things that break. All my friends who keep Fords for any period of time have all had issues with displays, gauges, window motors, etc.
I think the Ford is a better looking truck, they just aren't made as well.
