You can get a loaded tundra crew cab with the 5.7 v8 for around 44-47000 I'm sure. Maybe less depending on what you are looking for

I've had a Tacoma and currently drive an F150.

Other than the obvious small truck/full size differences, there is no comparison as to quality. I'll never own another Ford after this truck.

I put 250000 miles on my Ford. Now it's back on the farm with zero problems. I'm in a Tacoma now. Love them both.

I was close to getting a F150 with the 5.0 but wanted a Tacoma bad

I put about 65k miles a year on a truck annually and pull a light duty trailer daily. I have owned both ford and Toyota. My next truck will be another Tundra and it's not close. And it was less than the f-150

On my 3rd F-150, biggest problem I've ever had was the motor going out in the front drivers side window

Fords definitely have more bells and whistles than the Toyotas, but with that comes more mechanical issues. I am a regular reader of both Ford and Toyota forums, and I can tell you that the Toyota forums have much less "my truck is broken please help" type of threads.

I would agree with this. Someone posted they could get reasonably equivalent packaged trucks, and the Toyota was cheaper.
That wasn't my experience, the comparable Toyota to what I bought was about $5-7K higher, and I couldn't justify. Ford's huge discounts make me scratch my head on that.

Yeah, and the equivalent Ford should be around $38-39 would be my guess. That's how it was when I was looking almost a year ago.

Toyota doesn't make a 4.6. Maybe a 4.7?

Wrong. I think they got rid of the 4.7 in 2010.

4.6L V8 Engine with 2WD
6-Speed Automatic Transmission
310 hp @ 5600 rpm
327 lb.-ft. @ 3400 rpm
4.6L i-FORCE V8 DOHC 32-Valve
Dual Independent VVT-i

Total w ttl was right at $40k. I think the final $ on the truck was 37 and another 3k or so for taxes and fees.

Similar Ford was 41 +ttl. I shopped for about 3 months.

ETA: that's a 5.7 double cab sr5 4wd. Bucket seats, 38 gallon gas tank, Bedliner, towing pckg. Fairly basic truck.

I don't doubt it, but the 4wd xlt is what I shopped forever on and that's about what they wanted for it. I shopped from Austin to Mobile.

If you decide to go with a piece of shite Ford do not buy it from Robinson Brothers in Baton Rouge. There service department is complete crap.

I bought a new Tundra TSS 4x4 in September. I had diesels all before that, getting the same gas mileage in the Tundra as the diesels. I looked at the F150 Fx4 but there was about a 8K difference in price on the lower models. The only complaint I have with the Tundra is the fact that I still have to turn on the headlights manually. It pulls the 22' skeeter bay boat like it's nothing though.
