Speckled trout fishing

Never really been good at trout fishing but really would like to be get better at it this year. Does anyone have any tips, books, websites, etc to help with my goal?

Go with a guide for about 2 years. Don't be afraid to ask a lot of questions. Be honest with your guide and tell him why you're asking. Tell him you are trying to learn enough to do it on your own. If he's an arse about it, find a new guide.

Trout Masters and Trout Masters Too are good books to start reading about Trout fishing in louisiana.

that lake is a tough nut to crack if you are new to specs. i'd suggest a different area if possible, some of which are not much father away than Lake P and you can launch at the same landings as you would as if fishing the lake.

Some of the local fishing shows offer good tips about bait, bait color, concepts, etc. my favorite is castin cajun, they have a good index of youtube videos

Thats a good question.

I've been doing it pretty steady for about 3 years now, and every once in a while I think I've got it figured out...

and the next day, they let me I don't.

The books mentioned are good, and interesting as how much successful trout fishermen disagree on a lot of methods. All the same, its a good starting place.
