I've seen a lot of comments on here about how shitty/ghetto Covington High is and how great Mandeville High is. Do any of you have kids at either to substantiate these claims or are these just preconceived assumptions based upon other opinions? Serious question.

third house from the end
it burned down after we moved and there's a new house on the lot now
house on the end was the fraher's and there was a vacant lot between us at the time
this was mid to late 70's we moved in 1980

go down the trail directly across from my old house if the trail is still there and start looking about 200 yds in on the left!

if you'd have told me there was a better place to grow up back then I'd have called you a liar. we duck hunted the pits between there and beau chene, fished the golf course ponds, and spent all summer fricking around at the CCC pool house

Could you two get a room? Maybe at the Mt. Vernon on 190?

Traffic on 21 north of I12 - it is currently being addressed but painful currently.

You're leaving off the traffic on 190 and also the interstate. I grew up in Mandeville/Covington and I'm blown away now by the traffic. No exaggeration, I'd take Baton Rouge and New Orleans traffic over the Northshore area any day. And if there is a parade going on in Mandeville you're better off walking. The population bump after Katrina was ridiculous.

I still love the area but the traffic has gotten crazy.

I will say this, I never get bothered for change by black bums. I don't have people coming up to my car window at night begging for money. I don't have some dude offering me a blow job from a fat nasty chick if I bought them a bunch of beer.

As much as Covington sucks, this is one part I don't miss about baton rouge.

Also the 24hr Walgreens doesn't need an officer parked out front watching the place. The ones in br and Nola do.

Lived in Mandeville/Covington for 25 years and still travel there twice a week. If you don't think the traffic has gotten to be a huge issue than you must not live there anymore. 190, I-12, and 21 are brutal every single day of the week. It took me an hour today to get from the Stone Creek area to Bears and back. Took 21 there and 190/12 back. That's probably only 6 miles away.

Traffic is a nightmare but overall a great town especially Columbia st and several restaurants that others have mentioned including Lola and Gallaghers. South of Mele Printing is just fine!

there are just places I don't go certain times of the day unless I have to. I hope 21 gets better when the road/bridge construction is finally finished.

Tap Room is a legit hangout. Decent restuarants especially if you include the proximity to Mandeville. 30 minutes from NOLA and less than an hour from BR. For the "ghetto" comments, the area near the National Guard Armory probably isn't the best neighborhood but it's not like a free fire zone either.

The hicks start occuring more as you go north or west on 190.
