When they started being the news instead of reporting the news is the day they died.

stories about fake news is meant to distract you from the fact that CNN is fake news so that you still consume their fake news and that you still believe their fake news.
you don't even have to call them "fake news"
it's clear that the MSM and DEMs work together
it's clear that in this election, that backfired like a motherfricker
so they are just doubling down to try to discredit all "non-mainstream" news sources to maintain their hegemony, b/c that's their only shot at not having the public realize just how coordinated they are with the DEMs. i said this many times, but if there is one institution who truly came off poorly in this election, it's the mainstream, liberal media
it was just pathetic

And now when you call them the liberal media, no one should roll their eyes.

It's the real story of the election.
Our free press is free to report the news, but they instead freely provide you with propaganda disguised as news
Fake news.

Which more or less coincides with Cronkite declaring the war in Vietnam was lost. Although lauded as the essence of television news, he became an advocate - and literally that became the story - "Cronkite says the war is unwinnable" was literally a headline and probably one of the top 5 news stories of that year.
WTF did Walter Cronkite know about war?

Something very strange and unexpected has occurred. I am still trying to understand the totality of it. Trump did not just win an election. He won the culture. Alinsky tactics/media disinformation are immediately identified, ridiculed and turned into a clever internet meme within minutes. It actually fortifies us to get constant hysterical deconstructions of our every move. The more they pour it on, the stronger we get because Americans are profoundly alienated from traditional media.
It's all very subversive. The political Right is subversive. The political Left have been reduced to reactionary punchlines. This is quite a shocking development.

I give fox news a pass. they're up front about what they are. I would feel the same about MSnbc if they didn't simultaneously put the same exact people and content on network television and pretend that it is no longer impartial and without bias.
these outlets try and obfuscate by pointing to fox news if they did so appropriately. Fox news loses credibility by pretending to be impartial among republicans when I reasonably suspect they rigged the first debate to help jeb bush. They do the same shite CNN does when it comes to politics within the republican party, but outside of that, they're republican news.

before the DNC leaks and the podesta leaks, reasonable people trusted CNN. The information though was so damaging that any obfuscation would be comical. I honestly think it would've been more productive for everyone exposed by WikiLeaks (including Clinton) to do what trump did with the bush tape...own it, apologize, and then put a somewhat positive spin on it (locker room talk) and move on
Hillary couldn't shake the emails because she repeatedly lied about it...then she finally admitted that it was a mistake and said she was sorry while she lied about lying about it...
CNN is doing the same thing. they're not owning up to what they did and I think it's too late for a come to jesus moment reset. It's insulting to my intelligence to watch CNN.

CNN is fake news
No. There is a difference between having a liberal or conservative slant on the news and reporting fake news. Fox News has a conservative slant on the news, but it is not fake news. CNN has a liberal slant on the news, but it is not fake news. The Wall Street Journal is conservative, the New York Times is liberal. What makes all of these media outlets legitimate media and not fake news is that they do not literally make up factual allegations out of thin air and present them as fact. If Fox, CNN, WSJ or NYT tells you something did happen, then it's almost certain that it did. If they find out later that it didn't happen, they will at the very least stop saying it did and will likely issue a correction. Now, what spin they put on the facts they report and the opinions they have about it are op-ed and not news, but they are not fake news.
This doesn't mean legitimate media outlets are not misleading. They certainly are. But they don't mislead with actual lies. Choosing what to report and what not to report is one way of misleading that both sides of legitimate media frequently use. When you watch or read these outlets, you do have to be aware of their slant and take their op-ed with a grain of salt, but you can generally depend on allegations of fact to be accurate. As long as you have accurate facts, then you can form an educated opinion no matter what slant the source is putting on the facts with its op-ed.
Fake news, on the other hand, is completely different. Fake news sites literally make up completely false shite and simply claim it is true. The Pope did not endorse Donald Trump. Hillary Clinton did not run a child-sex trafficking network out of a pizza parlor in Washington. No FBI agent, connected with the Clintons or otherwise, murdered his family and killed himself a few days before the election because of some feared fallout over revelations about some kind of wrongdoing. These stories and many more appeared on fake news sites and got many millions of views and shares, more than legitimate media sites on both sides of the political spectrum.
Surveys consistently show that a growing majority of people use social media and websites as their primary source of information. A survey by Buzzfeed (I think) showed that 38% of stories by right-leaning sites and 19% of stories by left-leaning sites contained fake news. This isn't to make the point that the right is less honest than the left, but to point out that even 19% of stories being simply false is appalling. It becomes even more terrifying when you consider that MOST people are relying on these sources as their primary sources of information. When a majority of the electorate are depending on information from sources that are anywhere from 19% to 38% bullshite, there is no way to have an informed electorate.
A democracy is dead if its people do not have accurate information and cannot agree on even the most basic of facts. Not opinion or philosophy, but the facts themselves. We literally do not even have a consensus in this country on what reality is, and anywhere from 19% to 38% of what people think is real is flat-out bullshite made up out of thin air. This is the most alarming thing about the election. Who won is barely relevant compared to this.

i think that conspiracy theories should be put in their own box
the DEMs are walking a tight rope in labeling conspiracy talk as "fake news". i was going to make a thread about that, esp with at least 4 years of trump and the inevitable conspiracies that will be reported by his opposition (aka DEM-coordinated media)

CNN has a liberal slant on the news, but it is not fake news.
Also, Fox and MSNBC are up front about being incredibly partial...cnn would deny any liberal slant.

hands up don't shoot. steve bannon is a white supremacist, here's our interview with ted cruz or Donald trump (when really it is the Hillary campaign's interview with them), the contestants have not been provided with the questions
They're fake news simply by pretending to not have a liberal slant, but as you can see it's much worse than that
your nuts 4 more than just LSU

Yes, but that's not what CNN has become. They are a tablid now. No one in their right mind would compare them to Fox or one of the broadcast networks anymore.
Just a handful of examples
-CNN hosted a completely staged town hall debate with Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. They provided questions to Hillary Clinton the day before the debate. It doesn't get much more dishonest and unprofessional than that.
-CNN reported (for months) that Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 may have flow into a black hole, which is total bullshite
-CNN coordinated Trump interview questions with DNC officials
-CNN interviewed their own cameraman during one of the many protests this past month
-CNN media host stated multiple times that it is illegal for anyone but CNN and the media to view Wikileaks emails
-CNN hosted an hour long discussion after the election on the likelyhood of oncentration camps for homosexuals in the US under Trump presidency
-CNN reported that several competitors, including Gateway Pundit is fake news
I won't get into their atrocious coverage of the terrorist attacks in California and the shooting at the Lafayette movie theater...or their bullshite "white hispanic", "white nationalist", or Hands Up Don't Shoot coverage.
CNN is beyond slanted. They are cable-based tabloid news. Calling CNN slanted or left wing is like calling Rex "a tad crazy". There is a leftward slant, and then there is CNN off in their own fantasy universe.

The Pizza Gate story is bullshite.
CNN and the Times, while they make occasional mistakes, are not "fake news".
Stop it with this crap.

No, the person conducting the interview is conducting the interview, regardless of whose idea it was to ask a given question. However, this, along with this other point you brought up...
quote:
do you think CNN stopped feeding Hillary debate questions after the primaries?
indicate that you are missing the point. Feeding questions to one side, or even taking direction from one side about what questions to ask, is not actually lying about the facts in a news report. Now, if they deny they did that when they actually did, then of course that is a lie, but I'm talking about the facts in news stories themselves. If they report that so-and-so said or did such-and-such, it's a virtual certainty that they did. If it turns out they didn't, then the legitimate media outlet will at least stop claiming that they did and usually issue a correction.
