I'm glad Guice has the record. He deserves it. He might break it again. I doubt the coaching staff intentionally left him in for the sole reason to break the record and they damn sure shouldn't take him out to protect another players record.

Dumb argument. DG5 EARNED every one of those yards. Its about more than just the RB in the game. The single game rushing record is a nod to not only the running back, but the O-line and TEs man-handling the opposition to achieve those yards.
I don't care who the running back is, pound the rock if you are dominating the opponent.

This is not overly complicated....
Fournette was nicked up, and again tweaked his ankle on his last carry against Ole Miss. You absolutely keep him on the sidelines.
Meanwhile, the aggie game was not completely out of reach and we needed to keep scoring or at least control the clock. Guice was owning them. You absolutely keep him in the game.
Now, please don't ever force me to defend Coach Ogre again. TIA.

It is as if the only concern was getting Guice that record. Again, why?
I hope I am wrong but I sensed some problems between the staff and LF after CLM was fired. It seemed like CEO thought he could have played based on some of his comments so maybe there was a problem between the two. It did appear they were trying to get Guice the record but was it a slap in the face to LF or rewarding Guice? idk

Why did not Chavis and Texas A&M defense stop Guise preventing him from breaking the record?
The coach is not concerned with how many yards the RB is accumulating in a game. All Orgeron was worried about was melting the clock and getting out of College Station with a victory. Guice running the ball affording him that opportunity.

This is some seriously stupid shite right here.

I feel like LF laid down after the Les Miles firing. I believe He rode the season out on his injury. I could be way off base here and hope I am, but it tarnished his image with me. Just seems as if he didn't want to play for O . Personally I'm glad Guice broke his record and against John Chavis and aTm.

I also think that guice should have been taken out of the game at the 8 minute mark. However this has nothing to do with the record. Guice had already recieved the most carries since his highschool days. Go ahead and take him out. At that point in the game I would have gone ahead and put in Brosette. The o-line was getting a great push and Brosette needs tge carries for next year. I have a feeling he passes by Williams.

TWICE in the 4th they got to within 2 TDs. our defense wasn't playing well. we needed to keep scoring and run clock, and they couldn't stop Guice. so give him the ball.
Fair enough.
But when we got the ball back with 3:30 left, up by 21 points, Guice then got 5 more carries for 14 yards.
Again, he broke the record by 1 yard. Just seems like any other back could have gotten those less than three yards per carry to keep the clock moving.
Forget the record, why not protect Guice the way we seemed to want to protect LF against OM?
Some good points in here about trying to set the stage for Guice going forward into next year. Hadn't really thought about it like that.
But I have to think that point was already made throughout that game and the Ark game. People know Guice. He will get a lot of hype going into next season, and rightfully so. But I doubt anyone outside of our fanbase knows or cares about that record.
Other good points about LF not traveling for the game while even a suspended player did. Just curious to know what all happened there.
Have to think it would have been nice for LF to go out this year knowing he had that one in the books. Even if Guice broke it next year, leaving with a record like that would have been a nice pat on th back for a kid that turned down everyone to stay home at try to bring us back to the top.

Is Fournette somehow more deserving of the record than Guice?
Posted on 12/6/16 at 9:48 am to Tiger Voodoo
So another LSU coach who is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.
Maybe it was to push Fournette to get healthy and try and take the record back in the bowl game.

16 carries 284 yards
37 carries 285 yards
Which game would you think is more deserving of being remembered in the record books?
