my lord, the over-analysis in this entire thread is exhausting.

If a player (any player) is close to a record, the coach usually wants to let him get it. They don't go through some lengthy checklist to determine whether the player is more "deserving" than the player whose record is about to get broken.

This is far simpler than most of the posters on this board make it.

I would imagine it is a lot more precious to you than Fournette. Records are made to be broken and as you point out Guice will beat it again next year (barring injuries). Which by the way is why they didn't run Leonard so much. He was injured all year you might have noticed. Maybe the coaching staff's job is not to worry about records and they wanted to try and let him heal for future games.

It just feels like there is something more to this but we will probably never know.
It could be that Fournette had already hired an agent which meant we couldn't play him without violating the rules. But then again Fournette did say he was trying to get in good enough health to play in the bowl game so I guess that isn't true.

Which game would you think is more deserving of being remembered in the record books?

First of all I'm not saying Arkansas's defense is good....but its better than Ole Miss's.

Second of all Leonard is a home run back....and Ole Miss had a pitcher throwing 78 MPH over the meat of the plate. Problem is Leonard sometimes struggles with strikeouts (negative plays, bad vision, lateral movement). Guice on the other hand doesn't get fooled with the off speed pitches and will still put the ball in play when he's down in the count (2 yards when he should get none).

Please pardon my baseball analogy...
