If you make it 8, the 9-12 teams are pissed
12 teams, 13-16 teams are pissed

Same in college basketball. Teams 67-80 are pissed

The playoff is a great idea. Playoff committee not so much.

It's time to just abandon conferences. No more cupcakes. There are just too many P5 teams. Put them all in one conference and find a way to schedule them. How you would do it, I don't know. Just make it work.

If 4 is the case, then do away with a conference and make 4 mega conference

It's not devaluing the regular season, that's one of the worst arguments against a playoff out there

The playoff committee has got it right each year and if they choose Bama, Clemson, OSU, Washington then they will get it right again.

No, it isn't. It's one of the best ways to determine a champion by far. Think about it this way. Pretty much everybody has agreed that Bama has been the best CFB team during the 2016 season. If you expand the playoff field, it increases the odds they won't win the national championship. You think a process where a three-loss Wisconsin or USC team is given the same shot of winning a national championship as an undefeated Alabama team is fair? That's bullshite.

Then there should only be 4 mega conferences and the champions of all 4 play in the playoffs. Penn state just got screwed

I won't be satisfied until the field is large enough so that every SEC team gets in.
