re: 4 Team playoff is the worst process in all of sports.

4 is the perfect number.

There will never be more than 4 undefeated teams. If you have a loss, no reason to complain if you're left out.

I like 8.

4 top teams host the first round at home in their stadium on New Year's Eve and Day.

That ensures 5 conf champs can get in if needed and a smaller convergence team could get a shot with a perfect record.

Clamoring to get in by those left out will always be there, but it's far less now then it even was when we had 2 teams with the bcs. It'll get even less with 8.

I don't mind the 4, like the 4 team playoff. I'd never want it above 8


What I do mind is their method of choosing the 4. Screw being subject to the whims of a committee that changes whatever is most important to them whenever they please. There needs to be a transparent formula that every coach and team knows about. That way when they do not make it they have only themselves to blame. They should know what's most important in scheduling, they should know what is most important in winning, championship games, out of conference scheduling, margin of victory whatever....just give us a tangible formula, let us know what must be done

What is wrong with 8 teams? It should be the five P5 champs and 3 at large teams.
