The Big Ten. I don't see how one could say otherwise.

It's been pointed out that the SEC only has 8 conference games which skews the metrics. Those extra games for each SEC team are like wins against Big Ten bottom feeders, or worse.

Indiana was a solid team this year. The defensive coordinator was named the new coach so I expect their improvements on the defensive side of the ball to continue.

I'm not arguing the SEC is better, just pointing out an argument could be made depending on what you value.

Massey Composite:

1 Alabama vs 2 OSU
4 Michigan vs 13 LSU
6 Wisky vs 14 Auburn
8 PSU vs 19 UF
24 Iowa vs 27 Tenn
26 Neb vs 30 Texas A&M
37 Minn vs 44 Arkansas
46 UGA vs 47 Northwestern
51 UK vs 60 Indiana
52 Vandy vs 67 Maryland
54 Ole Miss vs 82 Michigan St.
59 Miss St. vs 97 Illinois
69 USCe vs 103 Purdue
80 Mizzou vs 113 Rutgers

8-6 in the SEC's favor.

Does it though? LSU lost one of those extra games and they're sitting at #13 in the Massey Composite even with 4 losses. I don't think those terrible wins are all that important at all.

ETA: FWIW, I'd rather have the top heavy results in the Big 10 as far as conference bragging rights are concerned, because it absolutely feels like they've dominated coverage, but the SEC is the better conference top to bottom again.

Yeah, Bama has ruined CFB for me this year. It's basically a foregone conclusion that they'll win it all.

They said that bout USC. We all see how that turned out.

I agree about top to bottom but all I care about is the top.

SEC teams seem (for the most part) more willing to take on tougher OOC games. There are a few that still play pathetic OOC schedules. However, the 8 game slate does give them an opportunity to boost their bowl game resume without possibly inflicting a loss on another SEC team and thus hurting the other teams chance at a bowl game. This is why I dismiss the SEC fans who pound their chest about having so many bowl teams. Well, no shite. Most of them have an extra rent a win built in without harming another conference teams chances at a bowl.

I'd like to add something. I've been on this board for almost 10 years and the quality of the level of discussion and the overall respect for others views has improved dramatically. It's possible to have real dialogue with fans of opposing teams and conferences now (for the most part). Ten years ago if an opposing fan put out a view that didn't fit the agenda they were usually shouted down.

The SEC has the best overall record and has set a record for most bowl eligible teams (11). It's one of the best years the SEC has ever had.

The ACC has 11 bowl eligible teams as well

Funny enough one of the OOC games was the 4th place team in the ACC Coastal beating the big bad tough Big 10 East champion

The only thing that makes me hesitant to crown the Big 10 as the best football conference is that Penn State went 8-1 in the Big 10 and might win the conference this year. I really do not think Penn State is that good of a team. If they played Bama in the CFP, Penn State would get absolutely crushed. All of the other CFP contenders would give Bama a much better game and that includes Washington.

Don't get your panties in a bunch. It's a valid reason why the ACC has so many bowl teams.

ETA: I'm a big fan of Narduzzi. I like the way he runs his program and Pitt is on the rise IMO.
