This really blows my mind, Louisiana voted for Trump and he won by 20%.
What gives? Is Edwards that good at fooling everybody?
Im a life long Mississippian and said this about 15 years ago due to the conservative values of Mississippians that there would never be another Democratic governor in Mississippi and I feel this will hold true.

Hookers and blow. And diapers...allegedly.

Bc the majority of people didnt want Vitter to be the governor

Ronnie Musgrove was our governor not too terribly long ago.

People are stupid. Vitter was caught with a hooker years ago and many wouldn't vote for him because of it.

The republican candidate was the Hillary of Louisiana, and Edwards ran as a right leaning democrat.

The Democratic Party is very diverse on issues. Southern Dems are not NE Dems. That issue alone is why the party as a whole in fights so much. Dem leaders talk about it all the time.

We had some idiots who bought hook, line, and sinker that Edwards was a Boy Scout and because Vitter cheated on his wife he didn't deserve to be reelected. In the end the Edwards said thanks for the victory and you residents deserve to be taxed to high hell for electing me.

Jay Dardenne and Scott Angelle ran negative ads against Vitter. Say what you want about him or not, without those two tainting the water he would have won easily. JBE presented himself as some conservative democrat while showing his "Honor Code" from Westpoint. He was nothing more than a left wing hack trial lawyer and surrounded himself with the same lefty hacks who have less scruples than Vitter.

Too many dumbasses afraid Vitter was going to break into their house and start banging hookers on their coffee table.

because over 10 years ago vitter banged a hooker
before there was nevertrump there was nevervitter
before there was nevertrump there was nevervitter

Vitter has all the personality of Al Gore after taking some ambien. Thats what it really came down to. The hooker stuff reared its head and he couldnt change the issue.

Well LA has the jungle primary in which all of the Republican candidates were more interested in staying in the mud of Vitter's sex life rather than focusing on the issues so that we could accomplish what the LA GOP has done for years......letting the people pick the best Republican candidate and then getting behind him in the runoff. Vitter then went to the mud and this basically fractured the party in the runoff.
The other major factor was the wolf in sheep's clothing, Jay Dardenne. This guy ran as a republican, got in the mud on Vitter like I said, then when Vitter made it into the runoff instead of himself he sold out to JBE for untold amounts of cash and a sweet gig as Commissioner of Administration under Edwards.
All of that plus trial lawyer money is how LA has a democrat as a governor.

Imagine Phil and Tate ran in the same primary and it got dirty and Jim Hood awaited the winner.

David Vitter had too much baggage. JBE caught lightning in a bottle and had no real challenger. Don't think that will be the case next election.

The Jay Dardenne endorsement swung the election in my and many others' opinion.

Actually all bullshitting aside.
Louisiana is a RED state nationally, but most voters don't give a shite about local politics. I mean they will complain but they don't give enough of a frick to vote unless it's a nation election. Louisiana governors election are on off cycles from presidential election. This greatly benefits the Blue inner cities of Louisiana. If the governors election were held on 11/8 They'd be fricked and they know it.
