Does it only work in conjuction with a low carb diet?

If you eat regular meals before or after intermittent fasting, it will probably work. If you eat an entire chocolate cake before or after your intermittent fasting, it probably won't work out as well.

I did it last year for a few months. Worked out at lunch time then ate around 1:30. Dinner at 6:00. I would do it several days a week and I could tell a difference in weight. Hard to stick to for a long time but if you need a kickstart to losing a few pounds it is great. Makes you really think about your meals and making them healthy and protein rich.

I lost 20lbs in two months doing a 4hour feeding window. It's so simple and your body gets used to the fast pretty quickly. I strongly recommend it.

I tried it for about 10 days and quit. It requires somewhat of a strict schedule that has to be maintained and I had trouble following through on weekends.

Also, it made me extremely hungry and I ended up overeating.

Keto was a better fit for me, but you should at least try it because everyone is different.

Works well if you run a deficit.

Works even better with keto.

check out Cory Gregory on twitter/instagram or his web page. I follow his version of this which is a pretty good variation of intermittent fasting. He's gotten it down to a science and knows his shite. It works for me and I'm making pretty solid GAINZ

I think it works for people because the restricted eating window doesn't allow them to consume the same amount of calories they were consuming regularly.

Intermittent fasting combined with carb back loading was my bread and butter. Harder for me to do it now.

I've been on it since Summer. Working out while fasted can be rough, but you get used to it. My eating window is from 12-8. Sometimes I switch up my eating window to 1-9.. and sometimes I workout during my eating window.

Absolutely. I do 12-8. Do low carb concepts but don't worry about ketosis. I have maintained my weight while eating junk. I did all low carb to lose the weight.

I've been doing it for the last 6 months. Only eat from 4pm-8pm. Went from (6'1) 225 to a much leaner 185. Didn't change my diet at all except for subbing Dr. Pepper, Beer, and sweet tea for whiskey when I'm drinking and water all day long.

Yes it works. It restricts the hours you eat to a window daily whichever schedule works for you. What this does is allow one to eat larger meals and more satisfiying meals as long as macro and calorie needs are met.

Work for what?

You need to spell out what you're trying to achieve.

So if your feeding window is say 12-6, does this really just mean you're skipping breakfast?

Yeah, it works. I've lost 20 pounds in less than 3 months. There are different fasting regiments. I'm fasting 3 days a week (Tues., Thurs. and Sat.). Eat normal meals the other 4 days. No need to exclude carbs. Very little exercise. I'm retired, so I don't have work to deal with.

My wife is just fasting 16 hours, from 6 PM to noon. She eats a normal lunch and supper. She's lost 10 pounds.

Fasting for 8-10 hours or so exhausts the glycogen in your system and then you burn fat for the remaining 16 hours of the fast.

After I lose another 20 pounds my eating schedule will probably morph into the 16 hour fast for 3 to 5 days a week. It's easier than counting calories and there may be other benefits.

Google Mark Matson's TED talk and the "Scientific American" article on Intermittent fasting.
