Any Keto folks here that can critique/advise my diet plan?

I plan on eating this the next few days:

Breakfast:

2 hard boiled eggs, 2 egg whites mixed into egg salad with dijon mustard
1/2 avocado

Lunch:

Rotisserie chicken breast with skin
Raw carrots
Walnuts

Snack:

Celery with almond butter

Dinner:

Salmon (or other lean meat)
Braised kale
Roasted vegetable (Going to make roasted butternut squash and brussell sprout salad)

I've had 20 extra pounds to lose for almost a decade. Seems like every time I touch a carb, I just gorge until I eat over my calorie limit. I've never tried a diet plan. Maybe this will work.

Ketogenic diets are great for dropping LBs. But I recommend adding to it the principles of intermittent fasting. You will drop more weight than you can imagine. I start all clients on it as a kickstart.

Eat from noon to 8 PM each day. Thats it. 3 meals. Lots of veggies and protien.

Transfer some of that effort to the gym

Do it with some intermittent fasting. Drink coffee and water to hold you over until noon and don't eat after 8pm.

You'll feel like a million bucks every morning. Get up 30 minutes earlier in the morning and go for a walk.

well for starters, I'd avoid the carrots. It's one of the higher carb veges you can consume. stick to green vegetables. No reason to eat "lean" meat per se because you need the fat on a keto diet.

what kind of carb limit are you shooting for? typically keto consists of <30 carbs per day. Based on that plan, you're going to be hungry simply because there isn't much fat in there to help keep you satiated.

I would highly suggest you over salt everything. Your first week is going to be rough and you need to pay close attention to your salt/potassium/magnesium levels if you want to avoid keto flu.

It's a good plan. Substitute the carrots (sugar) with Broccoli or cauliflower.

Drink plenty of water and do light aerobic exercise for 20 min x 3 days a week. You'll likely lose @ 10 lbs. by this time next week pretty easy.

Sugar is the fricking devil.

I'd avoid all the veggies and nuts for the 1st 2 weeks to get in ketosis. Then you can slowly add a few low carb veggies back in like turnip greens, brocoli, or asparagus.

Honestly replace a couple meals with a huge green tea with honey. I used to weigh 270 lbs, im 6'7 so I wasn't a lard arse, anyways, I weigh 215 now I just added 3 large green tea with honey a day and they keep me full and I dont get too hungry now. I've been doing this for 2 years now and have kept the weight off its been a great replacement for meals and surprisngly fills you up if you get a huge mug.

Why not?

2 egg whites

Why not whole eggs?

Your menu seems a little limited to me. Need to add in some steaks/burgers as well as cheese.

I recommend you shoot for a "fat-adjusted" state rather than actually going into ketosis.

To satisfy the hunger you will get from all the lean meats, you need to throw some fattier protein in there, eat some steaks. homemade burgers with a fattier profile. Nuts, nuts, nuts that's what she said. They'll keep you feeling full.

check the info in the 1st post here

determine your target macros/deficit using the ketogains calculator. Use an app like myfitnesspal and track your meals.

You're going to want more fat than your sample menu.

Mix in some chicken thighs instead of breast. Eat the whole egg. Use coconut oil, avocado oil, ghee, etc for cooking.

Carrots aren't a keto friendly food.

If this is the case, keto seems like a decent option for you. At the end of the day, it is all calories in vs. calories out, but there are different paths to achieve that (keto being one of them). I personally don't care for those types of diets because I don't like that much restriction, but portion control and binge eating are not things I struggle with. If you're someone who eats in volume, something like keto is right up your alley.

Curious why you say raw carrots, instead of just carrots. How the frick else does someone eat a carrot?

Make sure you activate the almonds before you eat them or there's no reason to eat them
