Ive been feeling it too the past month or so. Its been really tough but talked to a doctor and things are getting better with help.

Dont be too proud to ask for help. Its not weak to admit you need a hand. Im going to read through this thread to look for advice too. You arent alone dude

Buy a motorcycle and a good bedroll. Just take off on a weekend a month with no real destination. It will reset your life and give you something to look forward to.

I live for my family and girlfriend, and I stopped working at a meat grinder and started working somewhere that's more family oriented where the management actually cares about the well being of the employees.

Sounds like you are in the right direction. Have you tried talking to a therapist?

Yeah, that honestly was when I was at my happiest. Traveling the world is incredible and always heightens your senses. Backpacking across Asia is bar none my most rewarding experience, that I'll never forget.

If I won the lottery tomorrow, I'd spend a year traveling the world. If friends and family wanted to join me for a leg of it, I would love it and pay for it, but I don't have any problem traveling alone and meeting new people.

Do u have any hobbies? Or do you do anything creative? If not, go to hobby lobby or Michael's, and pick one up.

Not a joke. Making something with your own hands can be very therapeutic and rewarding

Fight for something greater, watch this documentary and fight for something beyond your selfish motives.

I went through something similar. Not real reason to be unhappy, in fact quite the opposite. However it got to the point that I couldn't go on. I met with my doctor and he prescribed me 20mg of Prozac. I was very nervous. It's been about 6 weeks now and I can tell you I feel so much better. It's not a happy pill by any means, more of a I can get through this day pill. Now working on other things like not bailing on friends, finding hobbies and trying to get back into exercising regularly. It's important to note if won't feel better over night. But there is hope. Just talk to someone either your family, a good friend or doctor.

Other than meds or therapy, daily exercise is one of the best treatments for depression.

And this! Some will say cross fit which is good for some, but for a battered and bruised body from my youth, I recommend bag training in boxing classes. One of the most satisfying workouts ever.

It was pretty awesome.

But yeah, let's just stick together. Talk shite back and forth, sure, but in the end of the day try and better ourselves. Hope you have a great week, and keep your chin up! One of my favorite quotes ever:

"You will find that if you look for the light, that you can often find it. But if you look for the dark, that is all you will ever see."

I haven't read this entire thread but just wanted to add this to anyone on antidepressants...

Please do NOT just stop taking them cause you think you don't need them. Or not take them daily if they were prescribed for you to take daily.

My dad is on antidepressants(he has been on them for years, but recently switched to another one). I'm trying to help him find another medicare advantage plan for when he moves to AZ and was going over his medications with him over the phone. Nearly freaked out over the phone when he mentions the antidepressant and that he only takes it maybe once a week, saying it doesn't really help him much(the instructions on his bottle clearly say to take once a day). You can't do this with certain antidepressants because it could actually make you feel even MORE depressed, possibly suicidal. If you don't like your meds or the side effects, or whatever....PLEASE discuss that with your doctor first before you just decide "oh I don't need to take this one today". Until you see your doctor...take them as directed.

But Nurse, I felt soooo much better after I returned to work. I have not had any ill effects since stopping. Everyone is different though. I just hate taking pills. I have been n almost every pain led there is the last 18 months plus soma, flexirel , and xanax. I have been able to stop taking all of them.

Nurse, I took adderall (not prescribed) for the first time in my life the other day and it was probably the most amazing ive ever felt.

That shite is fricking crazy, I cant believe its legal to give to people. Talk about a high. I wish I could always feel that way. All of my anxiety just went away and everything that was on the edges of what I perceive that is usually blurry became clear.
