Nothing Ed Orgeron can do in 10 games ,with a team he didnt build, should qualify him for one of the best jobs in cfb. The people wanting Ed orgeron as lsu's head coach are not thinking long term.it would be better to give Aranda the job.

Wrong. Ed did help build this team. He recruited a nice chunk of this roster. By the time next season rolls around, it will be a majority of the roster.

I agree, conditionality. The task CEO would have at LSU is much different than the absolute nightmare he inherited at Ole Miss. I think most people would agree that Les had assembled an amazing staff aside from CC. If most of the staff was going to stay aboard through the transition and a solid OC gets hired, we'd be fools to burn it all to the ground and start over. This program just isn't in the kind of shape that warrants a wholesale reset. The grass isn't always greener and the guys who want some Art Briles type offense are kidding themselves if they think that would win consistently in the SEC.

Well, at LSU he's 2-0 against SEC, both of whom had impressive offenses until they come to Baton Rouge.

How many coaches in the country would beat mzzou, southern miss. And ole miss with our talent?

Quite a few. If anything, this is an indictment on Les, showing that average coaches can do better than him on game day. All the more reason for us to go for an elite coach, the potential to dominate is here. And other teams know it.

One note of reality. Middle Tennessee hung 51 on Mizzou.

I want O too. No other coach is going to have the bond with the players and fans and recruits. It is magical. Every time O speaks to the media, at the end he always says Geaux Tigers. He is one of us, he gets it. That chemistry is something special.

He definitely has a love for his team. There will be a lot of pissed off negas on here if O can pull off th Bama upset.

Ole Miss was not a pushover, and coaching was a big part of the success.
I'm starting to believe.

I'm sorry but this kind of thinking is going to lead to a bad decision. Coach o is saying and doing everything we've complained about miles not doing. He's gunning for the job. But we need a true football mind, a game planner that can out scheme opponents, not just get players and fans excited. This emotional high from releasing les miles and his archaic offense will wear off very soon. Then we need some real substance in that HC spot.
I'm all for keeping o and others on staff but there's a lot more to running the program than taking over a stale but talented program and breathing some life into it.

All I know is that when Les was fired, I wanted a coach that would come in and do the right things, such as:

1.Fire the OC.... meaning recognize that Cam sucks.
2.Recognize talent... meaning stop starting inferior pet players.
3.Implement an offense that isn't predictable.... meaning stop running only certain plays from certain formations thereby letting the D always know where the play is going.

Turns out there were a number of other issues going on that I was not privy too that also needed correcting.

Well Coach O has done ALL of those things!

So why do we need someone else to come in and do the same damn thing that CEO is already doing.

And A: O will not leave us in a couple of years like some of the homerun hires would.
And B: keeping as HC will probably allow us to keep Coach O on this team which might not happen if he doesn't get the job.
And C: If the staff has a big turnover this years recruiting class could suffer as players follow the coaches that are let go.

I just don't see any benefit to hiring someone else to do what Coach O is already doing... All the right things!

I think the next two games will determine Coach O's status as our Coach. This is where Les fell shot after the bama game. Win or Loss. Was always a let down game.

I want to see how the team responds after they play bama win or lose.

What will decide the matter is the presence or absence of interest in the job among the elite coaches who have been identified as candidates.

It has nothing to do with Orgeron, who is a known quantity. We dont need any more information on him: we already know that he cant compete with the other candidates in a contest of coaching "tangibles", ie football strategy and tactics, x's and o's.

Intangible measures of fit and charisma are much less important in the corporate environment of an elite college football program than elite technical expertise, detail management and administrative competency.

We wont make this hire because someone is more or less like "us", or because he lets his coaches coach, or because he can get his men to jump around and wave
towels on the sideline.

We will do our level best to hire a coach like a Saban or a Meyer. With everything
that is at stake, how could we possibly be insane enough to do anything else?

Oh my God y'all are killing me with this crap. There are numerous people that would have done the same at LSU with what we have right now.

Fournette is a once in a generation back. Guice looks a future NFL star. The defense is loaded on talent AND experience for the first time in a while with a top 3 DC at the helm. If Etling is making progress under Ensminger who hasn't called offense in years, he can do it under anybody decent. Not to forget all the receiving talent actually getting a chance to show off.

Ed O was handed the keys to a champion level race car and is doing this pretty much on autopilot. He loses a shite ton next and people expect it to be the same for LSU. My God you guys are getting caught up again.

No no no.

Quit getting caught up in the bullshite. ..you don't hire a guy like Ed o when you fire a coach like miles mid season.

You go home run hire only.

Herman, Fisher, ,.........and

Way down here,

Everyone else.

USC should have wanted him. All the national media say the same thing. Coach O did a better job than the guy they hired instead of him and he did a better job than the guy he replaced, Lane Kiffen, who now somehow is a better prospect than Coach O.

Then answer me this: What specifically has O done that tells you he isn't a good enough candidate for the job.

We are all aware of his record at Ole Kiss. So let's not even regurgitate that. I mean specifically in the last several games, what has he done that shows you he hasn't changed from his HC days at Ole Miss. because, from where I'm looking, he seems to have letigitamely learned from his mistakes at OM. And one thing we all criticized LM for was NOT learning from his mistakes. With O, this is his second stint as an Interim and also the second time he's shown to have learned from his prior mistakes.

Miles, in hindsight, was a terrible coach. Obviously didn't know crap about offense and survived on the back of the defenses.

LSU and the state of Louisiana has amazing talent. Just like LSU doesn't need Peyton Manning at QB, LSU doesn't need an Urban Meyer or Saban at head coach. Not that either of those are available.
