Harris could very well play better in this offense because it suits his abilities more, but as long as Etling is playing well he'll never get the shot.

The offense isn't that much different than what Miles and Cameron were running, except they're mixing up the formations and throwing the ball on 1st and 2nd down.

Brandon Harris isn't any less likely to overthrow a wide open receiver on 1st down than he was on 3rd.

He could have just as easily said "with LSU's newly retooled offense" and let it go at that. There's no need to to pile on Harris. That's a no count in my opinion.

That's about the size of it and what I mean by brief is he was just a return guy in the NFL. That's it.

You have to break down that position differently than the rest because the fact is you probably are only going to see around 10-12 plays per game and sometimes less. You have to believe a good return man "which he was there is no denying that" will have a longer NFL career than almost all starters on offense and defense. Take Billy "white shoes" Johnson he was mainly a return specialist and he spent 14 years in the NFL. How many other 5'9in 175lbs guys do you see doing that other than return specialists or kickers?

With a year left next year he will be counting on a player to get hurt to receive playing time. Probably not the ideal spot to be in and you know he feels he should be playing. If he is not starting by the end of this year, and the only way that happens is if Etling gets hurt then he will transfer to a D2 school "from what I understand he doesn't have the credits to be able to graduate early" you can bank on that.

Howard is a lispy fig that trolls the castro district in San Fran when he is in the bay area which I hear he goes there a lot for that specific reason.

I'm not denying that. I would agree with that, I'm just basically sayin Howard wasn't a good WR in the NFL. They are some guys at that size that excel at both in the league. I'll give you an example using a guy playing right now for the Saints as a matter of fact. This kid they signed at the request of Bill Parcell's is a play maker for the Saints doing both catching passes and returning punts. Dude is smaller than Desmond Howard at that, but is exciting to watch and will only get better as he gets more playing time. I can't think of his name right now, sorry.

Lol He's a regular in the Bay area, huh?? lol

As for Harris I think the kid should transfer like Jennings did. The writings on the wall. There is too much talent behind him. Scott and the McMillan kid who I think should transfer also, and the Brennan and Narcisse duo coming in.

Since they decided to stop panning in with the camera on BH half the game, I almost forgot he existed.

Thanks for reminding me

His stats refute that.

BH was 7-0 last yr never trailing in a game and set scoring records as a FR running a spread option O w/63 pts on 9 drives - 100% Scoring Efficiency. At WISC he was back under center, like AUB 2014, behind an injured O-Line, was Sacked 3 times and hurried 8 times and made the Scapegoat as was Dupre who was mauled by double and triple coverage out of 2 WR sets.

At 7-0, Harris had averaged 68% vs SCAR, MSST, AU, FLA, leading up to the ALA game. He faced a lot of 3rd and longs and QBHs but 0 INTs, 0 sks.

No O-Line Pass Protection:

ALA/ARK: 18 of his 25 pass attempts were 3rd and 8+ yds and he was pressured/hit on 50% of his dropbacks and sacked 10 times. ALA: He was injured on the 1st 40 yd TD to Dural.

In the 7-0 run up to ALA, ARK, and OM, Harris faced long 3rd downs averaging 8+ yds, converting 44%. That is a tall order for Joe Montana to quote McFarland.

It got worse in the ALA and ARK games as he faced 17 of 25 3rd downs of 8+ yds, converting 3 of the 17 for 18% while he converted 75% or 6 of 8 of the 3rd downs of 5 yds or less. Behind a run-oriented run-blocking OL that failed all year at the much more difficult task of pass protection, Harris was sacked/hit 8 times vs ALA, injuring his shoulder, knee, and groin, and 5 times vs ARK, and constantly threw under pressure to well-covered receivers.

Short passes over the middle were NEVER Cameron's forte. He relied on slow developing vertical routes with 1-2WRs into double coverage. That resulted in a lot of QB SKs. Plus in 3rd and long and without tempo/HUNH, motion, crossing patterns, rubs and a variety of sets in spread 3+WR sets, there are not going to be a lot of mismatches and the middle is not going to be open.

All bullshite aside, it's really pathetic for Desmond or anybody in the media to talk about a college kid that way. Desmond knew damn well Harris was not the starter. I think it's a low blow to a kid already feeling bad about himself. Professional athletes, ok....but a benched college kid. It's pretty shitty! Some things can definitely be left unsaid.

And, no he's not my son, brother, etc......

Classless comment by Desmond Howard.
His attempts to be a journalist is based on affirmative action only, IMO.
Harris at least earned his scholarship and is a much better speaker than Desmond Howard will ever be.
I can listen to Harris without cringing. Howard not so much.
