There's this bizarre thing going on in the Florida Fanbase, that after the Vanderbilt game he should be fired. I think it's absolutely batshit insane, but, I admit I could be wrong. What do people outside the fanbase think?

Do you fire the coach for obvious shortcomings caused by a lack of recruiting from the predecesor (even though he won the East last year with it)? We had three true freshmen on the line in rotation, one upper classmen running back, literally one Quarterback who was a redshirt freshmen (Treon Harris was not a quarterback) and no kicker.

Please let me know if you would fire him after the Tennessee or Vanderbilt game. Thank you for your time.

Isn't the big concern recruiting? Otherwise, I think the guy is a solid coach and just needs another year or two to get the offense rolling.

that's crazy....but I also didn't get why so many people crowned the guy after one decent season last year.

Uh, what? He won the East last year with substantially less talent that UT and UGA.

No, I'd give him another year with his recruits to see what he can do.

It's way too early but he seems very underwhelming as a coach.

Recruiting isn't where I want it to be, but it's way too early. Every game he has lost has been with a backup QB. There's a good chance he gets 9 or more wins this year (including the bowl game). If the offense continues to stall next year, then we might need to start worrying.

This is ridiculous. He hasn't even been there for a 2 full years. If anything, y'all should still be mad at Muschamp and laughing at Carolina for hiring him.

I am not saying McElwain is the one for y'all, but he wasn't left with much, especially for his style of play. He's already shown he can do a hell of a job without his type of players there (as you noted him winning East last year ). I, personally, think this is dumb of y'alls fan base and no you don't fire him. He still deserves at least one more year, after this one. By that third season, coaches should start having their players in place and the team should be more of a reflection of that coach by year 3. Personally, with what Muschamp left him with, I think he should get a good 4 years to get everything in place and get some players actually capable of making plays.

He has had some bad QB luck, that has to be accounted for. His recruiting is an issue, but that can be remedied by hiring a strong closer. Way too early IMHO. Guy in the cube behind me is a Gator alum, and says the same.

Horrible time to fire him. He had no qbs when he got there.

You'd look as classless and incompetent as Texas.

Texas is everything you DON'T want to be. They're ruining their program by just entertaining the idea.

Hopefully Florida is more about long term success and continuity.

No, he absolutely should not be fired. Honestly, his Colorado State teams could probably beat his Florida teams, and that is on Muschamp.

No you can't churn though coaches like that.

frick, UF is still paying his LAST contract buyout which means if they fire him they will be paying two buyouts for one man.

If you could get Herman, yes. If not, hang on until next year. McElwain won't take UF where they want to go.

Hell no. Ole Butterteeth looks to be a great coach. But you need a qb to win in the SEC. That was Muschamps problem at UF too. Florida fans were spoiled by Tebow.

But JM needs to add an elite recruiter to his staff. He needs to go hire D. Craig as soon as the regular season ends. If not him then Trooper Taylor. If go Trooper over Craig. Hell add both.

The guy needs 1 or 2 more years. You don't fire a coach after 2 years. The only way you could justify firing this year is if they don't make a bowl game which is highly unlikely since they have already won 4 games.

I think a new coach needs a minimum of 3 years. That can be lengthened if they inherit a real mess. Ie- scholarship limitations/reductions, a coach that "mailed it in" his last few yrs. multitude of transfers and dismissals upon his arrival, etc. Much like what's going on at Texas. Coach boom left the offensive cupboard pretty barren. To fire McElwain now is a prime example of a spoiled and entitled fan base. Fla has only been relevant since the early 90's. No offense.

It's going to take time to get players that can actually run an offense. He has a good background and was a successful HC at a lesser level. He will be fine.

The people who screwed up are Georgia (for hiring someone with no HC experience) and SC (Cause Muschamp... LOL)
