Bear was never fired as an assistant coach or a head coach. Funny thing is, when he was an assistant at Vanderbilt his team actually beat Alabama 7-0

Mike Leach got caught up with a penny pincher in the Athletic department at Texas Tech. That and he ran a foul of Craig James who was trying to run for US Senate at the time.

Solich got hosed at Nebraska and they have not been the same since. The guy averaged at least 9 wins a year.

Mangino got canned because he hurt somebody's feelings - Kansas has not had a winning season since

I always thought Bill Curry got screwed at Alabama

Rick Neuheisel got screwed as well for basically playing an office pool

Relative to his program, this is a pretty darn good answer.

Mike Leach made Texas-freakin-irrelevant-Tech a national name, broke every total offense and passing record, and won 11 games. At Tech! They were never as good or well known before, haven't been since, and probably won't ever be again.
