Sounds like it may be shorter deal, which makes some sense.

It was likely to be a 3-4 year deal before.

If by shorter they mean 2 I guess that wouldn't be a surprise (still not great), but I don't see a one year extension happening.

Hooray for mediocrity...

Unless he's taking less years, or less money, this is going to be a disaster relative to competing for championships

Did you mean tomorrow before midnight?

Your sources have been much more miss than hit lately. You may want to get them checked.

If you meant midnight tonight then no harm, no foul.

Is that media avail Brees is doing today?

If this thing doesn't happen by midnight I'm gonna slaughter you.

Hey, stupid. Tell me what QB you'd like us to sign. Brees currently makes $20M a year. Wanna go out and get someone like Andy Dalton? That'll be $16M a season. How about Ryan Tannehill? That'll cost us $19.25M a year.

You can't win without a solid to elite QB. That's a fact. And the few million you save by going from Brees to Jay Cutler or Alex Smith isn't going to allow you to add 4-5 defensive all-pros.

You're stupid and you don't understand the economics of football. And you should feel bad about it.

Uh, we're not winning anything of significance this year, so let's draft a guy next year and not be left holding the bag on a massive contract for a 40 something year old.

Just when we're getting close to being out of salary cap hell, we'll be pushed right back in.

I don't think that will be the case.

Sure, it's that easy, right? We'll just draft another first ballot hall of fame QB and we won't miss a beat. Those are everywhere and even draft-challenged teams like the saints can pick one up around the 5th round or so. Great plan.
