Yep.
We actually threw it quite a bit (42% vs 35% last year). We just didnt have very many plays overall, so the final pass attempt numbers werent large.
Thats because they couldnt get anything going.

Why is Harris playing then?

Mett had a good run, but who wouldn't when you had OBJ and Landry with Hill. We still couldn't win with them.
OBJ and Landry made Mett look better than he was, but he was also groomed by Richt before transferring.
If you go back in watch some of those games, the windows that Mett was having to put the ball in were ridiculous. It clearly wasn't the receivers. The problem is the design of the offense. It's archaic and poor. We can decide to throw the ball more, but that won't fix the design. It's broken.

After re-watching the game with some notes, I don't think trust is the issue. This game seemed to be a combo of the following:
OL having a bad game (no push, missed reads and blocks)
Harris missing some targets, mostly high. Even a few of his completions were floated (to LF and the TE)
Receivers dropping balls
Wisconsin's excellent discipline on play action
Wisconsin was deceptively fast, and apparently too fast at times for our OL
On the defense, the DL did not do well on middle runs, several bad angles when we got pressure and tackling in general, and the DBs seemed to either slip on the field or just get lost on the coverage several times. They stiffened to prevent some scores, but they need to limit the long drives to let the offense get in a rhythm. D played better in the second half in that regard.
We started the game off balanced in both play selection and formation (3 run, 3 pass; 3 times in 2WR set, 3 times in 3 WR set on first two drives). We actually had more success in the standard 2WR set that everyone hates in the first half. We played a lot better in the second half on offense too.
In the second, we played more shotgun and had even more 3/4 WR sets, but more importantly, we mixed up the play calls on certain formations.
I actually saw some adjustments in the second half, and again let the downvotes come, but the biggest one was early in the 3rd when we went more run before going back to more balance.
I wasn't able to get a good look at the routes, but they still seemed to be too simple and slow to develop. And FFS, we need to put some TE routes out there. Maybe we did, but considering her only targeted the TE once (for a nice completion), I doubt we do it very often. The other side of this coin is our OL was getting mauled even with an extra blocking TE, so I am not sure how to fix that other than pray the OL figures it out.

Or Miles could run an offense that sends more than 2 receivers out. Say like 4 or 5. Maybe a slip screen. Maybe even flooding a zone with too many people to cover or just doing things that allow receivers to more open. Harris is having to thread every throw into a tight spot because Les wants to send out 1 or 2 receivers. It is a complete joke. I know maybe he could give Harris a run pass option that forces a defense to come in and leave someone open. It is actually too simple to even comprehend how he cannot comprehend.
We sent at least 3 on routes 34% of time (17 plays in 50). Not all of these were passes of course.
The two quick passes worked very well, the deep ball to LF and the one to the TE were good. The screen to LF would have been good if Boutte wasn't lost as all frick on the play.

les is s lineman. he believes in pushing the ball. he's stubborn and that's just the way it is. it's bo ball. it won't change. it's a pride thing among linemen.

If Harris could place his throws better, the passing game would at least be more competent.
don't give me that bullshite....there are tons of inaccurate QB's that who are at least serviceable. It's more about the fact that they are not putting him in situations to succeed.

well, he did call a pass play with the game on the line...and it backfired...makes you wonder if the passing game will shut down like it did when Lee threw that interception in the 2011 Bama game.
Good point. I have always been an enthusiast of the passing game, but after a game losing interception we might even be more unbalanced as unimaginable as it seems.

We seemed to do much better out of the shotgun, especially in the second half. I think (hope) we'll see more of it. Harris seems much more comfortable.

quote:JJ threw a good bit in 2009, and also Mett in 2012, so you're just pointlessly ranting. I would've had even less trust than LSU staff.
That was been the problem since Jarrett "pic 6" Lee.
You guys gripe about lack of MOF routes, but with the overthrows and inaccuracy thw INT rate would easily eclipse '08.
GRtiger gets it

With the running backs and receivers we continue to have, why don't we recruit more pocket passers? A guy that can manage the game and throw the ball accurately. Yes I'm sure our coaching hasn't developed our "dual threat QB's" but man just seems like a game manager and an accurate passer is all we need with the amount of talent we have.

We've known for quite some time Les is still working off multiplication tables while the rest of the NCAA is using calculus. I-tight is a simpleton's offense.

Les reminds me of Mike Ditka. Never thought the Q.B. was important and you win with defense. Defense is #1 but you have to have a Q.B. that can lead and make big plays.

My point was in Miles offense, the qb has to be deadly accurate into small windows to succeed.
Miles is not going to make wholesale changes to his offense, so its not a good fit for Harris.
Sure lots of coaches get by with inaccurate qb's, unfortunatly since Miles and Cameron arent changing, they are not the types of coaches that can. Ive given up on Miles ever changing his offense philosophy.

Our OL also hasn't been worth a sht again big Dlinemen. Something has not been right about our OL for some years now. Not dominant at all.

Not just this, but even Mett needed a year at UGA, a year playing JUCO, a whole year on the bench at LSU, then a whole year as the starter at lsu. Finally he was unleashed and able to run that offense. That's ridiculous that such a talent needs that much grooming for a college offense.

To be honest I dont trust Harris either.
