Yeah, I never called my parents by that title. My dad hated it as well. Said it made him feel like he was a military officer.

i didn't use that with my parents but i use it with other people quite often...UNLESS i am in the north with my yankee family. my slight drawl kind of gets me out of shite but i've gotten stern responses.
