This is the number one problem today with appliances people buy for looks, when that is a mistake, Nothing made today is as well made as something made in the 80's or 90's except speed queen. Knock it's looks all you want. You will be on your fourth set of pretty front loaders when this thing is getting its first servicing.

SQ are the most reliable according to CR and LG are the worst! Check your facts!

This thread reminds me of when Al Bundy finally broke down and bought the Ferguson toilet.
truth...
I actually got a good job offer from Ferguson upon graduating from LSU and just couldn't take the job because I couldn't get Al Bundy out of my head when talking about it.

What an awesome piece of machinery! This puts the "LAUN" back in laundry.

I have a grudge against LG appliances. A roach infestation shorted out my LG microwave.

Is this what has become of the OT?

I've got a 20+ year old GE washer and dryer (I've had it 20 years). My parents gave it to me when my Mom got a new set. No clue how long she had been using it before she gave it to me.
I'm pretty sure that the set I have has outlasted the new set she got.
*Knock on wood*

If you buy a washer and dryer based on looks, you're a fricking moron.
Enjoy repairing and replacing your "pretty" washer dumbass.

We bought a very simple Estate washer and dryer about 7 years ago. Has never needed a repair, and paid less than $600 for the pair.

Sounds like it was your problem not theirs. Roaches short any PCB board they lay eggs on. Usually see it on oven boards.

smart, Estate is Whirlpools "Landlord special" brand. They are older designs and generally well made.

You will find that you made the right choice with each passing day. My wife keeps saying I love that washer each day!

30 years old.
still look and run like they were delivered from the factory yesterday.
my wife runs hella loads through these things daily because she runs a hair salon out of our house.
80s/90s washer/dryers for the win!
