Casa Garcia - Metairie

I believe this is the most representative, down-to-earth New Orleans-Mexican restaurant. It is consistent, the service is good, clean, and the salsa and bean dip are the best in town and free. No other Mexican restaurant in town comes close occasionally to what Casa Garcia does consistently.

Went recently when driving family to the NO airport. Was still really solid, but didn't think it was as good as when they were in BR on Fla Blvd circa 1984-1988ish.
Hated to see them leave BR. Good family that run a great place.

One of the first Mexican places I went to in Metry/Kenner. I've yet to go back of my own choosing.

I used to love me some Casa Garcia. We used to drive over there after my high school baseball games.
Used to get the Burrito Gigante with shredded chicken.

The complimentary bean dip is the best part. Besides that, it's really no better than any other place.

Love to crush the Garcia. That bean dip tho, and the Burrito Gigante.

I like it. They set the bar for Mexican food in the N.O. area which doesn't mean it is set very high. My current favorite is Hugo's in Houston.

Casa Garcia is the illest, realest deal. Kenner's best kept secret. I'm not embarrassed to say I go almost weekly.

BS, the quality is way down and a lot of the servers there don't give a shite. Don Jose's blows it out the water as far as Tex Mex. They do have the best bean dip in town though.

Grew up around the corner from Casa Garcia. (Not at Chapelle, lol)
It's not very good by normal Mexican food standards. By NOLA Mexican food standards, it's one of the better options out there.
Bean dip is legit.
Fajitas are terrible.
I've even almost everything on the menu there over the years and just can't say I truly love anything.
Wife's family though loves that place so we are always there with them, and I usually get enchiladas, usually a mix of chicken and cheese.
Also, Garcia's in Covington, is owned by same family.
Haven't been to the one on the corner of Williams and Vets yet. Lot of people say it's legit. i'll say this: it's been there probably longer than anything else at that location.

I actually went here since my last post in the thread. We went for the bean dip. I got fajitas. They weren't bad.
They have good Queso as well.
Bean dip is good and is the best thing there.
Still middle of the road Mexican, IMO.
