He's a teammate of Tory Carter. He's pretty much unranked, LSU is his 1st offer. He will be at the LSU camp later this month.

New LSU Defensive Coordinator Dave Aranda is always looking for man sized linebackers to play inside in his always nationally ranked 3-4 defense.

LSU's staff uncovered a hidden gem and pulled the trigger this evening offering linebacker Akileis Leroy (Leesburg, Ga./Lee County).

Wow, sounds as if Aranda was just sorting through some film and really liked what he saw. Strange that he would be so under the radar.

It's refreshing to have a D-Coordinator doing his homework the way Aranda seems to be doing.

I'd imagine it's more of a camp offer though than a commitable offer at this time.

Offer worthy for his name alone.

I like what I see. I don't know anything about the competition he faces. He's definitely strong. Seems like a stout run stuffer.

With his first name, the "Hulk" mantra was overkill IMO...

Getting heavy hitters at lb will set the tone on def...and if we keep going in the same direction dline wise they can run to the ball free with tht killer instinct.

It's crazy how much the identity of our defense is changing. We are going from having 230 pound DE and 210 pound LB to 280+ pound DE and 230+ pound LB.

The scary shite is LSU is actually recruiting a hybrid of both. They have a lot of versatile players coming in, which means Aranda is going to be able to get very creative.

I can't wait to see what he can do!

I never understood this bs right here. So he's been offered and given an opportunity to pay for a camp out of state, where he may or may not receive an actual offer? Travel and camp expenses out of pocket?

I agree (LOL) how is it ever possible to have an offer if the offer really isn't an offer?

Aranda"s participation in recruiting is a welcome change from Chavis' lack of effort. In fact, it seemed Chavis was just coasting in his final coaching resting place at LSU, until he got pissed off and left. And College Station WILL be his final coaching resting place, probably sooner than later- maybe after this season.

There's no way he's 6' but he does look like he can hit. What's the level of competition like?
