I stopped reading those forums because the book readers on that site can't seem to separate the show from the books and whine that the show is crap.
It's been so long since I've read the books that I think I enjoy the show more because I've forgotten so much of the books

How do we know that Euron won't attack Dany's fleet before it arrives in Westeros?
What is he going to do with his 1000 ships once everyone is safely on land?

My crackpot theory:
Euron intercepts Dany. Theon somehow gets on a different ship and splits off to fight him, possibly dies. Euron uses horn to steal one of Dany's dragons before she lands.

He better find that horn fast then. Has the show even mentioned them?

I bet Euron's dick is pretty disappointing, to be honest.

This and forget what the show runners said about the Dany on a boat scene being the most anticipated thing-- for book readers that Jon scene was it-- that paid off two decades of speculation and theories.
I was hoping for R + L = J + M, but no. Meera's just Howland Reed's kid. With nothing special about her.

I can't see Theon dying yet. His character is not redeemed . But I do agree Euron's going to do something drastic to Dany and I don't mean with his "huge cock" .

Somebody needs to explain the horn thing. I remember in the show it being a theme but the only horn I remember being introduced in the show was the one found by Sam in the first men's cache of dragon glass.
It was subsequently abandoned. I think it was supposed to be the one to take down the wall Mance originally had in the books.
Fill in the gaps if I have it wrong.

Maybe she will bang leuitinant bran and marry him

I don't think there is any mention of the horn that controls dragons in the show. Unless I totally missed something.

I don't think we'll see the horns in the tv show.

Likewise. The show is better than the books IMO for several reasons:
1. The show writers had the decided advantage of improving on the obvious weaknesses in the books.
2. The show writers seem to be better writers, more creative, etc. and are writing for a TV audience.
3. The biggest disadvantage for the show writers is time/length/detail constraints but this in my mind has has actually been a net positive in their ability to consolidate the details into meaningful moments. The books really drag in Feast of Crows and become down right boring.

100% agree. I think the remaining 13-15 episodes are going to be amazing to watch. As much as I love the books I do think they drag on in Feast & Dance because of Martin not knowing how to proceed with some of the storylines.

I just finished listening to a GOT podcast that went over all of the current story lines and differences between the show and books. I read ADWD right when it came out, AFFC right when it came out, then ASOS a few years earlier.
I forgot how downright boring the last 2 books are - I totally believe GRRM has written himself into a corner.
I am loyal to the story first and the show is taking it in a great direction.

My biggest fear is that he himself will never finish it because of writing himself into a corner.

Didn't I see somewhere that TWoW is marked for a "Spring 2017" release? It would be quite nice to read it before the next season...or ever...

His editors thought he'd have it completed for an October 2015 release not that long ago.
And now we're here in July 2016, and it's been 5 years since Dance was released.

I've read the first book, never went any further. I can't take the Hodor thread
After this season, I started a reread of AGoT. I've asked some friends that have read them all if it's worth reading them. My responses have been mixed. Most say that they are worried he'll never finish the books and I'll get frustrated on the crawling pace especially having seen the show.
I'm really leaning towards rewatching the entire show instead. I've already watched half of season one. Weird seeing so many characters long dead.

I read each book once. I'd have no issues rereading books 1-3 but I feel like books 4-5 would be hard even with the Boiled Leather reread.
