Just do it like Aldi...you return your cart, you get your quarter back. They don't have to hire anyone to round up carts.

For you, maybe they could get something that issues out Yeti or salt Life stickers when you return the cart.

not a bad idea

Trashy people who care so little about fellow man that they leave their cart (an object of convenience) in parking spaces, on curbs, etc are one of my greatest pet peeves.

Technically it can. This can reduce damage and theft of carts. Having to buy less carts, hopefully means less price raises. It doesn't hurt to teach people to put shite back where you found it.

I'm not doing the 16 year old kids job for him.
They have motorized carts and do 300 or 400 at a time now, in places.
I remember when I worked the Walmarks parking lot. Good times. No motorized pussy carts. And our lot was uphill. $4 an hour.

debatable. store should be picking up carts responsibly.

yeah, and you have to put a nickel into a slot for every item off the shelf. you get discounted when you purchase the items, if not, you have to return to correct spot to get nickel back if you don't want product. yay that is awesome game.

When I was a teen we used to ride out bikes to the Pittsburgh Airport and go around collecting those little carts that people would just leave. We'd cash em in and then use the quarters at the bad-arse arcade they had there. Karate Champ, Double Dragon, Kung Fu Master... good times

It always annoys me when you see people with enough groceries that you know they walked two or three miles in the store gathering them. Then when they load the car they won't walk an extra 20 feet to put the cart in the return stall.
---------------------------------------------------------------
cause like inside is AC
cause like outside is hot as frick, plus they employ people who come get them. they don't employ people to fetch your groceries.
This happens year round. I wasn't talking about something I noticed just yesterday.

Like at Aldis. And it costs nothing, you just have to remember a quarter to use the cart and you get it back when it is returned.
Anyone remember the old Superstore in BR? They had the same system, My brother and I would fight over who returned the cart because whoever did got to keep the quarter. You didn't have to bring them back to the store though, they had corrals all over the parking lot.
Years ago my car was pretty badly damaged in the Target parking lot on Seigen because some dick couldn't be bothered to put up a cart and it was a super windy day. My front fender was basically creased from the top to the top of the wheel well. Couldn't be pulled out or repaired, I would have had to get a whole new panel and at that point in my life I couldn't afford it. Target said that I was shite out of luck.
Because of that I return my cart and routinely round up others because I'm not a dick. I do it without incentive but other people need some skin in the game to do the right thing, even if it is only $.25. I think it is a wonderful idea.

At the Market District (grocery stores) in Pittsburgh they take your cart and get a kid to carry your groceries to the car. keep the carts from getting broken on the crappy parking lot asphalt.
carts all roll smooth and they are never all over the parking lot.
