Ok fine. But they need to use the money to fix said carts. The wobbling wheels are out of control.......

Just do it like Aldi...you return your cart, you get your quarter back. They don't have to hire anyone to round up carts.

you are going to put hundreds of thousands of cart crew workers out of work. Then they will end up on Gov't assistance. Don't need that.

and to earn $10/hour gathering them for people, you'd have to grab 40 carts/hour. no breaks

What are all the poor people going to do? They have food stamp cards and they need 2 and 3 buggies, how are they going to pay the $1?

I can hear it now, Oh what an outrage for me a poor single (insert whatever you wish)can`t pay my light bill and on welfare, I don`t have any money to put in this cart.

I already try to stay away from stores that accept EBT cards, because the lines are too long and too many damn people.

While I always return the cart, it provides a job to cart pushers.

It would provide entertainment of watching cheap-asses try to hold all their groceries rather than get a cart. "Kids, come tote this Mountain Dew so I can grab a few of these microwave sausage biscuits."

And we could give them condescending looks that imply: "Sorry you are so trashy and poor you can't afford a cart deposit."

People don't have food or water and you're complaining about a 15 year old having to collect carts in a parking lot. Tell your son to deal with it.

Agree.

Go to a border town Walmart or grocery store. It's almost a contest as to who can be the laziest. I saw a Mexican woman put her cart in a green space despite the fact she was parked right next to the buggy corral. Made my blood boil.

Or just shop online at Walmart and have them load it in your car for free. It's free and eliminates need for shopping carts.

I shopped at a Sainsbury that did this. It worked very well. Put a pound in to get the cart, and you get your pound back when you put it back where it goes.

The typical ones that don't bring carts back to the corral more than likely got the entire cart full of free food, complements of the government.
Somehow our government will figure out a way to supplement those that $1 deposit, so that it won't take away time from those looking for a job.

I used to think this but the cart situation is terrible at Whole Foods.

It always annoys me when you see people with enough groceries that you know they walked two or three miles in the store gathering them. Then when they load the car they won't walk an extra 20 feet to put the cart in the return stall.

cause like inside is AC
cause like outside is hot as frick, plus they employ people who come get them. they don't employ people to fetch your groceries.
