How though? How does Disney make sure that every single person within the resort is in a safe space at all times, completely immune to outside predators and the shite that they do/have done for thousands of years. You're being incredibly naïve.

This wasn't a person who killed a little kid, we are talking about a dinosaur (literally) for frick's sake. I mean come the frick on people. It is extremely sad, extremely tragic, but it is nature. It is bound to happen.

The examples I used were real. People have died. Disney Bus system. Disney monorail system. Overheating while in the parks. Riding a ride. Sometimes disney is "at fault". Others, not. They didn't pay for all of them.

They'll pay for this one. They'll add a sign. But saying they SHOULD HAVE done something to prevent this is naive. If every resort or theme park did EVERYTHING they could to prevent harm, then they couldn't exist in the first place.

here's a point for you: .

i think you were forgetting to make one. someon dies on roller coaster, disney at fault and paying. kid gets eaten on a leisure beach w/ sand, disney is paying.

You might swim safely with gators once, or even a hundred times. But sooner or later, you'll get bit.

People are in the water all day everyday with gators in Louisiana. I assume Florida too

Just because u may not see them doesn't mean they aren't there

Is riding in a bus fatal? Guess they should stop using those. Is swimming fatal? No more pools or water at disney? Are alligators the only "fatal" animal inside of disney? Nope. Can disney remove every single gator from their property which is the size of Manhattan? Impossible.

Again, this is the first instance after many years of kids playing in or near the water just like this poor soul.

No, it's not the first gator attack at Disney, just the first fatal one.

Granted, that was 30 years ago.

Depends on the signs.

They do take preventative measures to remove gators

Nets might not keep them completely out, but it would at least further decrease the likelihood of something like this happening.

I'd imagine the difference in likelihood wouldn't be near as drastic as you believe.

Can there not be a containment area for the body of water where this kid was? It's not that difficult to have an area designated for safe water activities

frick man you're right! They should have just posted a "No Gators Allowed" sign and this whole drama wouldn't have played out.

They are world renowned to excel at taking care of people. Well until you enter the park and stand in some of those lines, but they are even finding ways to make those better.

Did they do provide a safe experience for this family?

Were Disney cast members feeding alligators to lure them in for guests to see, and then allowing people to wade in the water? I don't see how there is gross negligence on Disney's part here.

When you go to a lake, you are in nature. Nature has organisms designed to kill one another for food or protective purposes. At some point you have to understand the dangers and assume the risk.

They have full-time staff devoted to animal control. Short of maybe having better signage and a staff appointment, there isn't much else they can realistically do. To close off the beach permanently would be an act of succumbing to fear.

You have a puppy walking on the beach and an eagle snatches it up is Disney responsible? Remember its a "controlled environment" right?

Look disney created this persona of a place to relax and let go. People come from all over the world not knowing about the local wildlife. Disney will now have the responsibility of this not happening again. It is something that could have been prevented. They have people assigned to this type of thing(alligator control) and it failed.
That's what will burn them. Don't think they have someone monitoring the eagles down here in florida for attacking dogs.

wouldn't stop a gator

In fact, you might wind up with more gators, as they would be unable to exit via water after entering via land.

quote:

The fact is Disney didn't want to keep people away from the beach. They didn't have a problem with wading.
Which implies that it is completely safe near the water's edge, which is what most people would assume inside a Disney resort. There are gator warning signs all over the place in Florida, so the absence of a sign near a private busy well maintained body of water suggests there are no gators there.

Never said anything about it being "drastic" but it certainly wouldn't hurt. It would be one more preventative measure in place. You can never be too safe.

Exactly my point. And every once in a while, you'll hear of a gator biting/attacking someone. It doesn't happen often, but it happens.
