Bryce Jordan was our best hitter in SEC games

.342 BA (2nd) <--- next closest is .322
.532 SLG (2nd) <--- next closest is .466
.490 OBP (1st) <--- next closest is .445
1.022 OPS (1st) <--- next closest is .999
Guys, enough with the bullshite about this kid. We didn't have a better hitter in SEC play this past year.
For reference, 10 (TEN!!!) opposing SEC pitchers went in the first 3 rounds of the draft.

What was his postseason BA? How about his NCAA tourney BA? Because that's the number that people are concerned about.

To bad he didn't show up for post season. Look I love the Jordan twins but it is what it is. They stunk it up and I think they would tell you that

no one is denying he slumped in the postseason.
that isnt cause for him to lose a starting spot. Not after what he did in SEC games.

Truth. We are all guilty of what have you done lately

if he were a higher profile recruit and slumped like that, no one would be blinking an eye.
Or maybe because there are 2 of them and they both slumped, and people cant tell the difference, so they are lumped together. Which is prob true, our fans are just that dumb.

Solid thread...
dude just went cold at the one part of the season when everyone was watching... Sucks for him that people are ignorant

do you mean looking ahead to next year? because any slump that bad is a cause to lose your starting spot at the moment

it's LSU. I imagine all players here are pretty good recruited players.. not sure I buy this..
fans will turn on anyone who slumps that bad.
i think people do devalue a guy like Bryce once he slumps this bad, because he doesn't really bring anything else.. such as defense or speed.
I am actually more concerned about Beau, who was never the same caliber player once he got removed for Breaux that one game he didn't hustle or whatever went down..

Yeah sorry I don't get this one. I will admit it will be hard keeping the Jordan twins out the line up. We know that CPM loves them. With that being said there will be some serious competition.

Do you have beau's numbers for SEC play?
Posted on 6/14/16 at 7:09 pm to beauchristopher
If you benched everyone they slumped we wouldn't have a team. There would be no all sec Kramer Roberson, there'd be no Deichmsnn. Alex Lange would have lost his Friday night gig weeks into the season. As usual, terrible post, beau

IMO one of the worst decisions PM made all year was Wofford over Bryce in the 9th.

I agree with Lester that he shouldn't lose his spot over a slump. If a slump is all it was. However if it's a problem with his approach then he needs to work on his plate discipline. He (and his brother and Romero too) was pretty clutch through the first 2/3 of the season. Then it seemed like the book was out on him. He saw a steady diet of outside breaking balls early in the count and couldn't lay off those pitches. All of a sudden he's down 0-2 or 1-2 and he's on the defensive. He should be able to learn to recognize what pitchers are doing to him and make the adjustment. If so, he should be right back on track. If not, he will be a liability the way he was late this year.
This will all get sorted out in fall ball so it's a little bit pointless to worry about it right now anyway. Makes for a good debate though I suppose.

That doesn't excuse the shite he is taking on here. Some people are acting like he doesn't belong on this team. I guess they forgot that guys like Raph Rhymes and Alex Bregman slumped in the postseason too. It happens

I agree; and they'll work hard to correct it. If it turns out he is as bad as this slump, then he sits. But he deserves first crack and was really really good in the SEC this year
Posted on 6/14/16 at 7:38 pm to Lester Earl
All he and brother both need to correct is the ability to recognize a curveball out of the pitchers hand. They both struggle to do that and they were not going to see a fastball for a strike at the end of the season. Which is why you consistently saw them look like little leaguers against big league pitching in the post season.

Not that it matters much, but I think those stats are before the last 2 games of the season and don't include the last 2 games against UF.
