Simple story, one anecdote, but but I wanted to share this WTF moment as I feel there are an awful lot of these WFT moments with Penn State.

So I "like" Colorado State University on LinkedIn as I once had contract work there. Whatever. This pops up in my feed, as CSU is trying to get into Big12 I guess, not really sure and not the point.

So here are the comments:

No big deal, pretty boring... then old David Johnson comes around...

Penn State won the NCAA Women's V-ball championship last year, & while at it, let's take a gander at the past 5 or 6 years of NCAA Wrestling results, as PSU has won 5/6 national titles. I'll stop here, as to my knowledge, CSU's BOT & Prez haven't taken their finest coach, ever, & maliciously agreed to tie him in w/ the school's worst scandal, all for the sake of an excuse to fire that great man ! My time at CSU, back in '87, was short & difficult, due to my alcohol addiction. However, I would have been proud to have returned & to have become a Ram Alum, once I put down the bottle to pick up the book. WE R PENN STATE ( & I am also CSU !). Go Rams !

Look, I hate to generalize, but WTF is that? A Colorado State marketing pic on LinkedIn? A rant about JoPa and his alcoholism 20 years ago? It just doesn't seem surprising. Is it just me or are these the same encounters others have had online and IRL with a small percentage of PSU fans?

...FWIW that CSU poster is just ridiculous

They are a northern cult, tbh. Alabama is the southern cult

A LinkedIn post about Colorado State sports nonetheless...

You are so wrong there. First off, lumping Ohio State fans with Penn State fans is hilarious. Ohio State fans aren't near the worst in the country.

It really is. I was debating posting it by itself until I saw the PSU comment and thought I'd do both.

OSU fans are bad for sure, but there are 20-25 "bad" fanbases, which usually consist of the good teams

PSU and Miami fans are the worst 2 fan bases I've interacted with

I agree. OSU has a huge, national reach and they are not nearly as bad as PSU. Frankly, PSU is pretty much untouchable (pun intended) in that category.

I love how they added volleyball just so they'd look better.

What a random list of sports they chose. I wonder how many combos they had to try to come up with csu the highest.

Probably quite a few. They also limited to 2 and 3 years. Also all games are weighted the same so assuming they have a good volleyball team it dwarfs the football mediocrity.

Apparently those are the only money makers? From the article on their website showing the chart in the OP:

Wow, a thread about one random dude online.

At least in the old days it used to be...I ran into four Alabama fans at a bar and let me tell you...

Yup, but it's consistent with other behavior I've witnessed and easily documented.

I get why you might use football and basketball to prove an athletic program's dominance, but is volleyball really supposed to be the fourth biggest collegiate sport?

Talk about cherry-picking your statistics.
