I know a lot of young professionals in NYC who agree with social justice causes.
i wonder why that is, as it wouldn't happen in a vacuum among men in the prime earning years of their lives.

seems like it has stabilized since the early 90s

and most of the shift has been with minorities, with really has nothing to do with demasculating men

The funny part of it all is you don't even realize that the type of passive-aggressive insults you've been doing in this thread is textbook female behavior. You trying to attack me by insulting my MC is no different than when a girl says another girl is ugly just because that girl upset her. You're feminized to the point you don't even realize how much of a woman you are.

And you showed yours when you tried dragging my membership in a MC into a conversation that has nothing to with it.

I mean it is kind of funny that you mention Peter Pan acting males when you're in a MC.

for fricks sake

it had nothing to do with any insecurity on my part

it was just showing your that your bike club could be perceived as childish behavior, the same type of behavior in which you were condemning

I didn't realize it was so hard to understand

I hope we can all agree that arguing on the internet about who is masculine and who is effeminate is pitiful behavior unbecoming of any reasonable person. I doubt that either of you really gives a shite how masculine the other person is.

There are a lot of ways to kill time. This has to be one of the worst.

Examples? I'm curious.

reading has become dominated by female-oriented literature. more fiction and more fiction geared to girls. there is a massive gender reading gap because of this

"roughhousing" and other "male" activities have been regulated out of schools. the energy is seen either a sign of ADHD or aggression, so the male students get medicated or threatened with punishment if they act in their normal behavior. this leads to frustration or over-medication and it's leading to a lot of males "checking out" by puberty.

i have a book by Christina Hoff Sommers on queue about this topic but i haven't read it yet

Article about it

quote:

Zero tolerance was originally conceived as a way of ridding schools of violent predators, especially in the wake of horrific shootings in places like Littleton, Colo. But juvenile violence, including violence at schools, is at a historic low. The Bureau of Justice Statistics reports that in 2011, approximately 1% of students ages 12 to 18 reported a violent victimization at school. For serious violence, the figure is one-tenth of 1%. It does no disrespect to the victims of Columbine or Sandy Hook to note that while violence may be built into the core of a small coterie of sociopathic boys, most boys are not sociopathic.

On the other hand, millions of boys are struggling academically. A large and growing male cohort is falling behind in grades and disengaged from school. College has never been more important to a young person’s life prospects, and today boys are far less likely than girls to pursue education beyond high school. As our schools become more risk averse, the gender gap favoring girls is threatening to become a chasm.

Across the country, schools are policing and punishing the distinctive, assertive sociability of boys. Many much-loved games have vanished from school playgrounds. At some schools, tug of war has been replaced with “tug of peace.” Since the 1990s, elimination games like dodgeball, red rover and tag have been under a cloud — too damaging to self-esteem and too violent, say certain experts. Young boys, with few exceptions, love action narratives. These usually involve heroes, bad guys, rescues and shoot-ups. As boys’ play proceeds, plots become more elaborate and the boys more transfixed. When researchers ask boys why they do it, the standard reply is, “Because it’s fun.”

The whole crux of their argument can be summed up by one quote from Fight Club,

"We're a generation of men raised by women."

Fight Club had a strong focus on the struggle of maintaining masculinity in a world that is rapidly becoming feminized/androgenized (I wrote an awesome paper on it for my Gender in Film class in undergrad), so this fight to maintain traditional masculinity has been going on since at least the 90's.
