I get about a hundred bucks in local currency from the ATM when I arrive. Paying a premium at your local bank prior to going overseas is silliness.

Just get Schwab. Fee free at any ATM around the world at the best conversion rate. All free.

Exactly, and never take out the "usd equivalent" or whatever they call it. Always take out cash in whatever currency you want and let your bank do the exchange rate, it will be MUCH more in line with true exchange rates.
