Lol no. Lubbock is one of the music capitals of the state. It's only as terrible as you make it. I've had a blast every time I've gone out there.
Remind me to never hang out with you, McCraigBro...

Lubbock is fricking awful.
I'm going to assume the only people who think this are 30+ years old and have no chance of getting laid and go to sleep before 10 p.m. every night.

Yes, over 30. I'm married, so I have a chance of getting laid. Do not go to sleep before 10pm every night.
You know, you young people don't own the market when it comes to having fun.
Also, once you get out and see the world a little, then you will realize that a lot of these little places, the only places you really know, actually suck.

I've been to Lubbock plenty, both in school and since I've graduated (I am 27). It's fun when you're in school, but any college town with a major public school is. It really is not great once you've graduated. It's remote and hard to get to, dusty as frick and generally pretty dirty. The same can be said for pretty much all of West TX/Panhandle

you can say whatever you want, Lubbock sucks.
And when i say sucks, i mean they bring nothing to the table in regards to tv money, which is what all this conference alignment is about.
TCU would be wanted by any P5 conference b/c they are actually good in the sport that matters, and reside in one of the largest tv markets in the country.
Lubbock is not a market anyone cares about, and Tech isn't good at anything to offset that.
At least Kansas has basketball going for them. They should join the Awhatever that UConn and Nova and the rest of the basketball schools from the northeast are in.

but TCU certainly was
quote:well shite. So has UH. But neither have been seriously linked to the SEC
and they have been talked about for the SEC as well.
quote:college station didn't seem to keep A&M from finding a place for itself
but Lubbock sucks balls
quote:forgive me for this one as I just went from the head and didn't look it up. My point remains though
And TT is the 7th largest school in the state, not 4th.

I feel like a lot of California schools have men's soccer programs as well as baseball programs. I don't know how they do this and satisfy Title IX and survive financially
The Big West and WCC schools don't have football. The ones that do have football sponsor every women's sports the NCAA allows. Because they also have Men's Volleyball, Water Polo, and other shite.
That's why I want LSU to get a women's bowling team, a women's lax, women's rifle, whatever it takes to get soccer and wrestling at LSU.
ETA: Stanford sponsors Women's Syncronised Swimming for fricks sake. When you have to make up shite to give out scholarships for, that means there is an issue.

I personally have my doubts that Kansas will end up in a p5 conference
I'd like to think we'd be fine, but we'll see. I think the Big XII will be fine anyway.

They would be better off becoming a mid-major that dumps all their resources into basketball such as Villanova and Louisville.
I mean we basically already do

Cincinnati is a pretty good get. Expands your footprint into a talent rich and football crazy state like Ohio.
agreed
if the Big 10 ever moves into the South w/schools like Georgia Tech, UVA, or UNC the SEC should immediately pick up Cincy to get into Ohio.

I feel bad for you if you think Lubbock is fun. Lubbock makes Pripyat and Flint seem gorgeous.

Other than the one mention in this thread, I do not recall anyone ever saying anything nice about Lubbock.
I believe I have heard more nice things said about Huntsville than Lubbock actually.

She did have 2g2 Midland for business last week.....
She hated it, though. Her words: "not enough black or hispanic people and too much tech gear"
