I guess people do not want their cars torched.

Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s administration is giving contractors another month to submit bids to remove three Confederate monuments, a possible sign the project has not garnered interest among firms that could do the work.
This is the second time the city has pushed back the deadline for contractors to bid on the removal of statues of Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis and P.G.T. Beauregard. Bids were initially due on Friday, but the city will now accept them until May 23.
The reason for the delay was not immediately clear, though it suggests the city may still be struggling to find a company to take the job.

I refuse to visit the city until the statues come down and all the confederate jasmine is removed.

Why? Are 140 year old monuments going to hold you up at gunpoint and take your wallet?

Those monuments will also be required to report stolen weapons

there are no interested bidders and there will be no interested bidders
nobody wants this job even if the emotional baggage weren't there
the liability is not worth the money

Someone else will try it and when they do, their shite will get fricked up also

it's not about that
the statues were not meant to be removed and the engineering of whatever must be done to move them is lacking in the bid documents
nobody wants to be responsible for the likely damage during removal

Lol k bye.

Mitchie doesn't care if they get removed because he's already milked the issue for all it's political worth.
I wish the local media would dig a little deeper into the claim Mitch made last year that when he was young, he was in a convenience store that was being robbed. Mitch thought the mention of his brush with serious crime would give him some street cred.

I know. Just think about how much better our lives are going to be after we take down statues and ignore history. And they said Utopia wasn't real. It's going to be great.

How is it irreplaceable numbnuts? Everything is replaceable in essence.... If what you're saying is true then nobody would ever do work on the monuments in DC, the Statue of Liberty, etc... Those things are in constant construction.

They aren't getting moved with the chance of completely breaking apart. It is irreplaceable because they'd have to use new shite to put it back like it was before it broke numbnuts.
Pressure washing concrete =/= lifting a shite ton of weight and moving it through a city full of 3ft deep craters

they are very old, their structural supports are unknown, and they were installed in a manner meant to be permanent. yes they work on the Statue of Liberty but they sure as shite don't try to remove it with a crane
this whole deal was slapped together without the proper investigation and engineering to ensure that there is indeed a way to safely remove them. The city dos not spend the money to design the lift and inform the bidders on that design
no crane company (none, zero, nada) is going to hook up to robert e lee until a professional takes responsibility for designing the lift and agrees to share liability

They know the City can't hide them if they actually put in a bid like they are illegally doing now (but, there's enough nuance in the statute to where it's an open question)
