I almost feel bad for her because she is most likely mentally ill.
With that being said, stories like this upset me because actual victims are looked at with a skeptical eye.

Definitely. We followed that story pretty closely on here. The elaborate things she did were way beyond the scope of a mere attention whore.

1st year girl has a crush on hallmate but he just wants to be friends.
She create an imaginary boyfriend to make hallmate jealous. She even sends fake texts from the phantom boyfriend to the hallmate.
Plot fails.
She claims that the fake boyfriend raped her in an effort to win her hallmate over.
Plot fails.
Her grades dip as the semester progresses and she is ultimately called into the deans office to explain herself.
She grabs onto the most convenient lie she has in her arsenal.
It's at this point she gets pushed into mandatory post-rape counseling. As part of this, she shares her 'story' with womens groups on grounds. They treat her like a hero. He remarkable story grows with each retelling.
The following summer a reporter for Rolling Stone is shopping for cases to build an article around. A student activist, who would later go on to work for UVa, tells her about Jackie's alleged rape.
Jackie tells the story to the reporter.
In the weeks leading up to the release Jackie gets cold feet, she's worried about getting exposed. The reporter refuses to remove her account from the article though.

And the frat gets dragged through the mud. Many demanded that they be disbanded.
And then, disturbingly, after the bullshite was exposed, the SJW's uttered a troubling sentiment.
"It doesn't matter if it's true. What matters is the issue."

Not just that. They had to close their house and leave campus over threats to their safety.

people like her, found without a doubt guilty of accusing people of such things, ought to have to register like a sex offender...so the rest of us can be sure to stay the frick away

People were throwing bricks through windows and faculty were refusing to grade work (at least in one case).
Then there was the social stigma. The article claimed the chapter raped girls as part of their initiation program.
Those guys went through hell.
