I think we could get that production out of Hill

6 drops isn't that many. More than you'd like to see but that's 50+ catches to 6 drops.

He had his shot

Maybe he can turn into a contributor for 2 TE sets

Didn't say they were. But people are acting like they are nothing. Most teams' number two guy catches 50ish balls.

The question is whether or not his performance justified this salary. If not, this really isn't a good move. If you think yes, then you still need to evaluate whether or not this salary was best spent on a TE...vs some other position. If the answer to that is no, then this really isn't a good move. If you think yes, then I guess you are on board with the decision.

As much as I wish I felt differently, I don't think the salary matches his performance (it's really not close IMO) nor do I think the Saints should be allocating this money to a TE. Ben Watson had 70+catches in this offense. Ben Watson. Let that sink in for a bit.

Annnnnnnd there it is. There's your explanation on "50+" catches. Just like Matt Ryan has a 70% completion percentage couple years ago. Captain check down of TEs

Ben Watson was always a decent/good TE

This guy is a decade younger

He had a bad year last year with no QB. With Luck he got better each year.

You realize Ben Watson just had his CAREER year and it was only 71 catches? Ben Watson in the past 3 seasons has had 120 something receptions. That is only averaging 40 catches per year! YAYYYYY

ok

Ben Watson is getting half of Fleener's salary...and I think he was overvalued due to Brees.

Honestly, you are on board with paying Fleener 7M per year?

So in other words, we're paying Coby Fleener for future production rather than past performance. Which just furthers the point of how bad this is.

You tried though.

That's a lot of money for a TE who can't block.

It's free agency dip shite. Osweiler got a huge pay day and Vernon has 40 mill guaranteed with 13 sacks in the last 2 years combined!
