I worked 7 days a week 12 hrs a day for 152 days straight and then 5 days a week the rest of the year for 3 years while my ex wife worked part time while she finished her nursing degree.
Yeah, I get it. My wife was in nursing school when we married. Took her about another year and half to finish after we married. During that time I worked a ton of overtime to help pay all the bills, and paid off her student loans in the process.
Then, about 3 months after she graduated and started working full time, she took almost everything "we" had worked for and was gone. I was bitter for quite a while.

So is it true what they say about nurses?

Did she stay with the guy she left you for?

We didn't have kids (thankfully), and I haven't kept up, so I don't know. That was 21 years ago.

I didn't intend to, but I got serious with someone before my divorce was final. He's awesome & out of my league in a lot of ways, so no regrets.
The thought of legally remarrying still scares the shite out of me. Divorce sucked so much.

I was completely blindsided, especially after working to put her through nursing school.
Nurses are the worst.
Because they make more than the average woman, it's such a new and empowering thing for them that it corrupts them instantly.
They can buy whatever they want, they don't have to rely on anyone.....so they go after what they lust.
A girl becoming a higher paid nurse is just like a girl getting a new boob job or gastric surgury where she loses a ton of weight......they Instantly turn to the dark side(x2)

Are you saying you don't jerk it?
I jerk it even when I'm getting laid later.

12 years........after about 6-10 months of being a man whore, i went into each next encounter with the thought of, is she the one.........and 12 years later I finally got to say yes. women are whore. men are whores. you have to look under a lot of rocks to find someone with values these days....and yes, i'm excluding myself.

I think it's more two people finding each other when they both decide to stop being promiscuous.

No. I am not saying that. But don't you call me a liar Abu Nuwas.

I've been divorced for 10 years and I think I still have commitment issues. I'd like someone to come home to but find a way to talk myself out of a relationship with every girl I meet.

Man, I don't see how some of y'all can jump back in the marriage boat so soon. I'm just getting to the point where I'm settling down a little and I still want to run for the fences every time commitment comes up.
That's actually quite normal. Professional literature generally suggests one year of recovery for every five years married. I was married for 27 years, been divorced for seven. I learn something from every relationship I have been in. Part of that journey is learning what you DON'T want.
I would not rule out marriage again in this life, but I am going to really get to know someone damned well before I enter into another "legally binding contract", if ever. Then again, there could just be something said for having a companion of the opposite sex and leaving it at that. It's not like I want more children. I love the two I have, but consider myself too old to start another family.
Then again, there's something to be said for freedom. There's no one to hold me back. Anything I don't accomplish is squarely on me. There are times I enjoy my solitude and I don't have to worry about the dog wanting half of everything I own if she decides to leave. That said, there is still something to be said for female companionship, but I am more discerning about their motives these days.
Funny thing about the dog. When my ex left, the dog paced the hall for almost six months looking for her. My ex dropped by about 18 months ago. The dog was acting like she wanted to run out and see her. I let the dog out. Dog comes within ten feet of my ex, literally growls and snarls at her, then turn around and went back into the house.
The look on my Ex's face????? frickING PRICELESS!!!

It's in the double digits. I just didn't want to sound like a douche/man whore.

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't recall where I saw it on TV, but there was this scene where the son was in the hospital dying of cancer. At one point he is awakened by his father's attempt to smother him with a pillow. The father explains that he was only trying to speed things up so as to spare him the painful death that normally occurs with cancer deaths.
The father tells his son that there are a few family and friends who want to come by and say goodbye. He also tells his son that the son's ex-wife is on her way to the hospital to see him.
The son takes a pause and then says, "Dad, how about the pillow"

My current wife (of 18 years) testified on my behalf that I had not lived with, or slept with, my ex-wife (of 24 years), during our mandatory separation, at my final divorce hearing.
But I knocked out so much poon the first 46 years of my life, before I started with the eventual second wife ... so it all depends on when you meet the right next wife I think.
We were married a few weeks after the divorce was final.
