South Carolina lock.

Dad is the RB coach there and his dad is also a HS Football coaching legend in that state.

Does anyone know of the staff is trying to get more than one qb in this class?

Well we obviously lose Jennings, and there is no guarantee Etling stays here for his senior year unless Harris sucks this season, so I think we need two QBs. Plus, outside of ILB, there aren't any dangerous needs, so getting 2 QBs this year should be the goal.

I think we are targeting all to hopefully snatch 1.

Here's the solution, we move Ensminger over to Austin Thomas' spot and hire this kid's dad as a coach. We can easily pay more than South Carolina.

We lost out on Shea because we didn't play this game, now is the time to ante up and play. We need a top notch QB desperately in this class or we are going to end up like UF has been the last few years (i.e. trying to win games without a legitimate SEC QB).

We're LSU. I'm pretty sure we trump UF and every other SEC school when it comes to trying to win without a legitimate SEC Qb.

With the brief exception of Will Grier for the first few games of this season (before he was suspended by the NCAA), UF has hadn't an SEC QB since Tebow.

Put another way, BH is better than anyone they have put on the field since Tebow with the exception of Grier, and he's gone.

To tell you the truth, I doubt Shea would have came here at all. He was tailor made for the Ole Miss offense and the team he decommitted from Arizona, runs a very fast uptempo offense and he looks like a better version of what they use as a QB every year.

LSU is not going to get the top notch passers until they change the philosophy and show these kids that they want to pass the ball.

Hopefully Craig can influence Miles/Cam and convince a guy like Bentley to come here.

We do need a top notch QB in this class, but UF's QB problems stem from Muschamp not the QB they had. Driskel was phenomenal for LA Tech last year and he lit teams up! You may think it was just because of competition, but Driskel was plain awful vs everybody at Florida with talent all around him. He threw all over Miss St and Kansas St last year. Brissett had a great 2 year career at NCSt and will likely be a 4th or 5th round pick.

Regardless, Harris and Mettenberger are both more talented than Brissett and Driskel. We've had waaay more offensive talent than UF since the Tebow era. Florida's wide receivers haven't exactly been scary in recent years. Their problems on offense certainly didn't suddenly disappear after Muschamp left.

Disagree.

Brissett might not have had the cannon of Mett or laser of Harris, but he played in a pro style offense in high school, was very accurate (nearly 70% cmp), didn't make many mistakes (32 pass TDs 1 int senior year) and was listed at 6'4 220 coming out. He was the #3 ranked pro style QB.

Driskel was a physical specimen as a QB. Coming in at 6'4 225 lb running a 4.5 40 with a cannon arm, you couldn't ask for more from a physical standpoint. He was a 5 star and #1 QB.

Problem is Muschamp didn't know what the hell he was doing with either of them.

What's your point? No flame, I just don't understand your point here. And I wouldn't say way more talent. We've just had our talent be productive, outside of the QB.

2010 - #2 TE (50th overall). The 6th (36 overall), 16th (122nd overall), 20th (152nd overall), 32nd (258 overall) WRs.
2011 - #4 TE (50th overall). The 20th (133rd overall), and 26th (189th overall) WRs
2012 - #1 TE (78th overall) and #4 TE (133rd overall)

So the year right before, during, and right after both QBs were recruited, they had tons of talent recruited for them to throw to.

But what does this have to do with actual QB play? I'm strictly speaking the play of the QBs.

Well actually with Will Grier they were a pretty damn good team. Yes I know he took PEDs, but still they showed what they could do with a real passer. Grier was the #2 pro style in his class. Treon Harris was an athlete in high school and should have played WR or DB from the jump, and would have at FSU (had he not switched on NSD).

Grier was on pace for 65.5% 2810 pass yards 23 TDs 7 ints, 270 rush yards 5 TDs in the 14 games UF played. As a redshirt freshman.

McElwain will get that offense back on track after another year, although I hate to admit it.

I'm glad to see Miles is not putting all the eggs in one basket in 2017 for QB. 2016 he was all in on Franks and got burned by the kid. As far as I can see we have 3 offers out already to top Quarterbacks.

For his sake he better because that team fell off the face of the earth the tail end of the season.
