Finally made the small crossover decision.

We're happy, but I'm sure the O-T is going to tell me we made a bad decision.
After six weeks of driving Acura RDXs, Volvo XC60s, Lexus NXs, BMW X3s, Audi Q5s, etc., we finally made the purchase:
The Infiniti QX50.
It wasn't our first choice - we liked the Acura RDX better, but I could not find an Acura dealer from Houston to Atlanta that wanted to deal. They are proud of those vehicles.
The Q5 was awesome. We had it an entire weekend on a test drive. The problem with it was to get it under $40k, we were going to have to sacrifice some things that we really wanted. You really had to get to $44k before you could equip a Q5 to the standard that the others were at.
The Lexus NX was a little small. And we didn't want to go up to the RX because of the price difference.
In the end it came down to the RDX and the QX50. We chose the RDX, but couldn't make the deal work. Most dealers wanted more than MSRP because they are so popular. We finally got one in our second choice color for $38,400 with the Technology package, but the similarly equipped Infiniti was available for $35,300.
Thanks to all who helped through the process.

I thought you were gonna finally come out the closet and add that you like midgets.

Honda will do that. Wouldn't budge on CRV's when they had a new model out in 2007-08 ish.

we had similar issues when looking for a Cross over. Settled on the Venza because Toyota wanted too much for the Highlander and we never used the third seat.
I like it, like a Camry station wagon, and I love wagons.

Nice car. If you loved the Q5 you would have gone nuts over the SQ5 but I understand the price tag wouldn't work. Audi is releasing an RSQ5 and I think that will be my next car in 2018.
Enjoy the new car!

And when you say "we", you mean you and your "partner", right? Good for you! All, well most people deserve to be happy. Did you celebrate with mutual BJs in the back seat?

My mother looked at the QX50, loved it and was ready to buy on the spot, until she found out that power rear door was not available, that was a deal breaker for her, ended up spending a little more and got the RX350 and loves it.
I still can not believe that a luxury vehicle does dot have power rear door, I mean even a Mazda does

Those 3.7 engines are so bland. They stick that engine in every damn vehicle. I test drove a few of the sedans with that engine and they weren't punchy enough for me.

I said the same damn thing. The salesman started with the "Well there needs to be a difference to go up to the QX60." And I said "A $25,000 Ford has this standard."
It wasn't a deal breaker, but it was discussed at length at the dinner table.

Is there a reason y'all didn't just get a sedan?

No, they need to step up their game in terms of engine technology. I drove much smaller engines from BMW, Volvo and Audi that have much better performance and gas mileage.
