Berry Oakley's melodic thumping is rarely ever talked about, but considering the shortage of material, I understand. His interplay between lead/lead/rhythym guitars plus double percussionists is mesmerizing.

Its amazing the hits ABB took and kept going

The dude that played this bassline while doing vocals for Spacehog's one hit. One hit wonder bassline.

Royston Langdon was great. I wish The Tender Trio would have stuck together.

I'll use The Tender Trio to do one degree of separation to another great, underrated bassist.

Royston Langdon formed The Tender Trio with Rogers Stevens, who was previously in Blind Melon who had their own fantastic bassist, Brad Smith.

The life expectancy of their bass players has not been that good.

Barry Oakely RIP
Lamar Williams RIP
Allen Woody RIP

Back in the mid 70's I went to see Jethro Tull. They had a bass player named Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond that wore a zebra suit and played a matching zerbra bass. Not only was he a good player, but he jumped around the stage like no other.
Anyway, here's a video if you guys want to watch him. He doesn't show up until almost 3 minutes in though.
Hope you enjoy.

No kidding. Anyone who knows half a shite about good music knows, and values, Wooten. Not my favorite style of playing bass, but his technical skills are undenaible.

I heard this band the other day on XM I think their name was Prius(?) that girl could really slap the bass. Their sound was a little handcore for me but I don't like metal.

their bass player is really underrated

How many people in this thread do you think know who he is? Should be a household name.

Saw the Wooten Brothers play regularly at 3rd and Lindsley here in Nashville. They were basically the house band for years.
