I was planning on going to Aruba for NYE this year. Yes, I understand that's an expensive time to go to anywhere in the Caribbean but I'm using Marriott Rewards points to book my stay. Preferably I would like to stay at a Marriott resort, but if there are better hotels on better islands, I am open to the idea of just paying for it.

I've been to Grand Cayman, St. Marteen, Antigua, St. Barts, and St. Kitts and Nevis. Grand Cayman and St. Marteen were my two favorite, but I want to visit somewhere new.

Any advice would be appreciated. TIA!

What do you plan to do on your trip? Just lay on the beach? Do the tourist thing? Want to be in a remote location? Dive? Just trying to figure out what you mean by "Better Islands."

If you want to stay at a Marriott your choices are very limited. Your time would be better spent on the Marriott site than here for that.

As far as islands go without that criteria St. John, BVI, TCI, Anguilla would be on my list. If St. Maarten and Grand Cayman were your favorites it tells me that you might be a little more interested in the nightlife than the actual island as those two aren't anywhere near the top of my list. Antigua and St. Barths are much nicer islands than those two.

How did you like St. Kitts and Nevis? We're going there at the beginning of June for 8 days. As you know, there is a Marriott on St. Kitts.

Went to St Thomas in February a few years back. 85 degrees, low humidity, perfect. Flew back into Atlanta and it was freezing with flurries.

Aruba is more of a family/honeymoon Island in the Caribbean. They have great diving, and snorkeling. We took an hour long submarine ride that was pretty cool. If you are going with your S/O then Auba is great. If you are looking to hook up then I would go somewhere else.

The Marriott Surf Club is pretty cool resort in Aruba.

St. Maarten during New Year's is awesome. Firework show over Simpson Bay, perfect weather, water temp is just right, I would highly recommend St. Maarten but I don't know if there is a marriott resort on the island.

Anguilla

If you want an island that has not been made into a resort island, Dominica, it's probably one of the prettiest islands in the Caribbean
