I mean if this wasn't already the case why is BET still thriving. Every show on TV caters to the white race. I mean I understand it but let's not act like BET came about because blacks didn't want to be associated with the white networks. MTV wouldn't even play black music videos. This is what birth BET.

She is a hypocrite after clues her career went down the toilet. The only way she paid her bills were by posing in black magazines and staring in black music videos and acting on black tv shows that aired on BET. So she can stop putting on this facade.

Probably the most racist thing I've seen posted on this site in a while, if ever.

You haven't answered my question.

You still haven't answered my question, and almost seems like you're purposely avoiding it.

Was that 1992 or so?
The right wing really likes to dig up minorities who agree with their politics.
Good money to be made by prominent Blacks from this demographic says Hermain Cain , Ben Carson, Dash ,etc.......

No, not Country. Literally, White (people) Entertainment. Put the race in the name. Specified it to a color of a person's skin, not just to a genre.
They're 2 completely different things. And that's my point, people are ignoring that, and trying to make irrelevant comparisons and points. Why won't they address the race issue?

What needs to be addressed? Who really has an issue with BET being black entertainment television?

So really people are just asking for a new name?

no one really
I think point Festus is trying to make though is who would have an issue if we had White Entertainment Television?
Not something that you claim is catered to whites, but something that specifically calls out race (white) in its name.

Why won't any of you answer the question? Would you, and black leaders, support a White People network that espoused white value, run by white people? Would you, Spike Lee, Jada Pinkett, Al Sharpton, etc. vocally support this network as strongly as BET? Why or why not?

"baw"...is really gay as frick...
she may have her facts mixed up, talking in absolutes with regards to winners and nominees being of a certain race, but she is not wrong in the fact that there is an "I'll have my cake and eat it too" attitude with regards to integration and equality from some involved...if things were reversed in some situations...there would be riots and unrest...all I'm saying

But what does that have to do with a private business? BET is no different than a Chinese, Indian or Thai restaurant. It provides a certain content and consumers pay for it. Don't like it don't watch it. I hate when so called "free marketers" don't understand the basic tenets of free market.

Then maybe she should have chosen much better examples that BHM and BET.

Do people have a problem with Spike? Lifetime?
People would have an issue with a network named White Entertainment TV even if the intent was just to provide entertainment that the white demographic would enjoy but all the while allowing anyone to watch. The name just makes it seem exclusive even tho it's not.
That being said, Dash made a poor comparison. A better analogy would be boycotting the Miss America pageant for not having enough non white contestants but also having a Black Miss America pageant.

As far as BET goes. I don't care if it's on or off air. But I do think it's stupid when people focus on it's award shows and make it sound like it's "Black only". When it clearly isn't.
Also, I've stated my opinion on why Jada Pinkett Smith is involved in this situation. It has more to do with Will not being nominated than race imho.

Modern Family
